Julia's POV

I woke up to the sweet smell of scrambled eggs

I fluttered open my eyes to find Ed cooking at a corner of the room

He looks so hot in that apron

No,no,no, I have to stop thinking of Ed like this

I internally scolded myself for thinking that way buh I couldn't help the smile that took over my face just by looking at him

He turned to look at me as if on cue

"Morning, Feisty" he greeted with his trade smile

He called me feisty and I didn't even mind

"Morning, Eddie" I greeted with a smile of my own

And that's when I remembered, I'm upset about how he wouldn't apologize

The sound of his brought me back from thoughts of how upset I am

"You might wanna take a shower before breakfast, your clothes are hung in the bathroom"

I wrapped the blanket around my body and began getting off the bed

Did he get my luggage out of the car?

Should I ask him?

If I talk to him to much, he won't know how upset I am

So, I'm not talking to him

I'll just go over to the bathroom and use whatever I can find

Again, his voice brought me out of my thoughts

"There's a spare toothbrush in the top drawer"

So, he didn't get my luggage out or he didn't unpack them

I really wanna know buh I can't ask him

I went over to the bathroom and saw the clothes that he hung on the door

They weren't the clothes I wore before I left home

So, he did get my luggage and he unpacked them

Great!

Now, to get that spare toothbrush

Gregory's POV

It's been 5 days since Julia left home and 4 days since I heard the news of her demise

I still haven't told Chantal

I plan to tell her today, I told Rosemary to bring her over to the house

I don't know how to tell her buh I know, it will be much worse if I didn't tell her

Ding Dong

Who could that be?

Rosemary never uses the bell, she has her own key

I'll go check who it is anyway

I got up and headed for the door

I opened it to find Rosemary with my firefly

"Hey, Greg" she greeted with a small smile

"Hey"

Then I felt some weight tugging me and I immediately knew who it was

Chantal, she always does that when I don't remember to pick her up

I laugh a small laugh

"And there's my little girl who always claims to be a big girl" I said looking down at her

"Daddy, I am a big girl" she whined

"Of course, you are" I laughed

She began going into the house and I turned to Rosemary

"Why didn't you use your key?" I asked her

"Well, I...I didn't want to...You know..." she stuttered then trailed off

"It's okay" I told her before going off to meet Chantal

"Hey, young lady, you hungry?" I asked not wanting to go straight to the point

"Nope....buh I'll take some ice cream if we've got any" she answered, thinking a little before asking for ice cream

"Luckily, we've got plenty of that, go into the freezer and pick any flavour of your choice" I told her

"Thanks, dad" she said in a singsong manner before she scurried off towards the kitchen

"You ready?" I heard Rosemary's voice say

"Can a father ever be ready to break such a news to his child?" I asked in response and she just sighed

Chantal came back to the living room with a bowl of ice cream in her hands

"Baby, there's something I have to tell you and I want you to be calm about it, okay? It's not gonna be easy buh...." I trailed off

"Dad" she started with a mouth full of ice cream and waited till she was done before continuing "Dad, you're scaring me, what's going on?"

"It's your mother, sweetie" I said beginning to think about not telling her

"What's wrong with mom?...Dad, you're scaring me" she said putting down the bowl of ice cream

I let out a deep breath

"Five days ago, she left home" I let out once and for all

"Oh, I know that" she shrugged

"I know it hurts to hear but....Wait what?!!" I started comforting her before realizing what she just said

"I know she left home" she repeated

"How?" I asked both curious and concerned

"She told me" she said, confusing me altogether

"What?" I asked in my confused state

"Five days ago, I was in school and mom suddenly showed up, she told me she was leaving for a while. Don't worry, dad, she's gonna come back, she promised" she said and that left me speechless all over again

She's not gonna be able to keep that promise

But I couldn't say that to Chantal, she's still too small and innocent to hear such news

"Okay, come here bab....Young lady" I said opening my arms for her to walk into a hug which she did

Then I looked up to find that we were alone

Rosemary must have left to give us some privacy

She's so reasonable

Now, I'm not gonna let anything separate me from my daughter again

She's the only thing Julia left me in this world

And I love her so fucking much
