Julia's POV

Celine gave me what she thought was advice

She told me what Gregory came to tell her this morning

Gregory wants to marry her in a week's time and of course she wants me to be the maid of honor

She made me help her pick the cake, the theme and everything

I'm currently with her picking out a wedding dress

I see her coming out of the dressing room and honestly she looks magnificent

She comes over to me and opens her mouth to speak "how do I look?"

She twirls around in circles, looking down at herself in the process

Looking at her made me feel terrible

She thought she was getting the wedding of her life but she's not

Everything is perfect except the groom

Watching her smile in excitement, I couldn't stop myself

"I can't do this, I won't be your maid of honor" the words were already out before I could stop myself

"What? Why not? I thought you'd be happy for me" she started and I knew she was holding back her tears

"Celine, you're my friend and I can't watch you make the biggest mistake of your life" I explained

"Julia, it's not a mistake, I love him and he loves me" she argued and I scoffed

"That's what they all say, my husband also said he loved me buh look where that ended" I tried reasoning with her

"Gregory isn't like that, Julia, he loves me" she continued to argue

"You know what I'm done trying to help you" I gave up, angrily picked up my bag and walked out on her

I took a cab and went back to the hotel

I needed someone to talk to so I called Rosemary and gave her the hotel address to come over

She came over immediately and I told her everything

About the ranch, Eddie and most importantly, Celine and her upcoming wedding

Ring Ring Ring

I heard my phone ring, rummaged through my bag until I found it and the name flashing through the screen was Celine

I showed the screen to Rosemary before answering it and clicking loud speaker

"Hey Celine?" I spoke....more like asked

"Julia, I know how you feel about all this but you're my only friend, if you won't do this, there won't be a wedding"

"Ce....Celine, I....I'm" I stuttered, not knowing what to say, I don't want to accept it buh I don't want to turn her down

I look to Rosemary for help buh she just shrugged and I rolled my eyes at how helpful she was being (Note my sarcasm)

"Julia, Gregory wants to talk to you, maybe he'll be able to convince you"

"No, no...Celine?" I refused buh the next voice I heard was Gregory's

"Hello?" He said and I panicked

I looked to Rosemary for help and she handed me a handkerchief

I gave her a confused look and she covered her mouth with the handkerchief before handing it back to me

"Hello?" He spoke again and I replied after covering my mouth with the handkerchief

"Hey, you're Gregory, I assume"

"Yeah, and you're Julia, right? Celine's told me a lot about you" he answered calmly

Even his voice alone, disgusts me

"Yeah, she told me a lot about you too" I replied in the calmest voice I could fake

"And Julia, she tells me you have refused to be her maid of honor"

"Well, yes, I don't want to be a part of her marriage to a man she barely knows"

"We've been together for about a year now, isn't that a long enough period"

Just how despicable can this man be?

"Based on her little knowledge of you, I don't think it is"

"Julia, I promise to take very good care of your friend, if only you would let that happen" he said, going back to the bridesmaid issue

"And how, if I may ask, will I do that?" I asked wanting to hear it from him directly

"She has insisted on you being her maid of honor and if you keep refusing, there would be no wedding....I know you love your friend buh please let me marry her, let me take care of her"

I couldn't take this anymore

"Okay, if you promise to take care of her then it's fine" I really didn't want to continue talking to him, I had to accept it

"Thanks, you know my wi.....my friend's wife also answers the name Julia"

"Nice to hear, can I speak to Celine now?"

"S...Sure" I could sense his surprise, he wasn't used to people not being interested in whatever he says or does "nice speaking to you" he said and

I'm sure I heard them kissing before Celine's voice sounded through

"Thanks, Julia"

"Sure, it's all about your happiness and safety, okay?" I removed the handkerchief and spoke

"I know, thanks" I heard her laugh at something Gregory had said or done "I gotta go now, love you"

"Bye, love you too"

Immediately the call ended, Rosemary spoke

"How could you let this happen? You let it get too far"

"I know, I know, I just couldn't tell her the truth, I wanted to but I couldn't, I tried to I just couldn't  and believe me I feel terrible" I explained as tears sprang to my eyes

"Oh, girl" she spoke softly as she drew me in for a hug "I won't lie to you, I don't understand how you feel buh I will tell you something I know, you can't let this get any farther, it's already bad enough as it is, okay?"

All I could do was nod in response
