Julia's POV

It's been a week since I got to Eddie's ranch

It's been great even though I really miss Chantal

Eddie is a business angel

I was confused when I first heard it too buh it's like this

When your business is dying, you call him and he gives you enough money to save your business in exchange for either profit when your business is back up or a partnership with you

That's it, he's a business angel buh he's also an angel to many people including me

When I got to the ranch, I met many people that gave me their experiences on how Eddie picked them up from the streets and gave them jobs at the ranch

Cody is one of them, he's young and works as a wrangler with his uncle

He lost his parents in a very wrong way, he watched his mother being killed right in his presence

His father left him for a woman and the only family he has left is his mother's brother

Eddie met Ryan, Cody's uncle trying to steal medicine when Cody was sick and felt pity for them

He brought them to the ranch and cared for Cody and ever since they both worked in the ranch

Another is Annalee, she was a victim of rape

She ran away from her uncle who constantly abused her before she realized that she was pregnant

She was begging for alms with her new born baby and Eddie's mother saw how bad that condition was for a new born

She told Eddie about it

So, he brought them into the ranch and cared for both the child and it's mother and ever since them, she's been the cook

There are a lot more like that with very different stories

And then there's me, he saved my life and gave me a place to live

"Julia?" I heard the cute small voice of Dianne, Annalee's daughter

She's four years old and the forever shining sunlight of this ranch

"There's the face I've been waiting to see" I smiled down at her

"Of course, you have" she closed her eyes proudly before letting out a laugh

"Where's your mom?" I asked before bending down to her height

"She's in the kitchen" she replied with her usual cheerful smile

"Okay, wanna play a game?" I asked, I'm bored and have nothing to do

"Sure buh can I tell you a secret?" She whispered

"What is it?" I asked wondering what kind of secret a 4 year old would have

The next words she said blew my mind "I think my mom has a crush on  Cody"

I was rendered speechless

"Where did you get that, Dianne?" I asked once I found my words

"It's true, she goes out to the stable to meet him every evening before she starts dinner"

"Dianne....How did you know that?" I asked waiting for an explanation that did not come

"Believe me, Julia, she stays up late every night until he comes to get his food just to greet him goodnight"

"Dianne, did your mom tell you this?" I asked wanting to correct her

A look of guilt spread across her face as she replied in a low voice "no"

"Then you shouldn't be saying that, if you have any question ask your mom, okay?" I told her in a firm voice

"Sorry, Julia" she apologized and I couldn't help but give her a hug before replying with

"It's okay, now remember to ask your mom about this and whatever she tells you is the truth, okay?"

"Okay" she said in a low voice

"Now how about that game?" I asked in a funny voice trying to lighten the mood

And it worked because her face brightened in 0.2 seconds

After the game with Dianne, I went to the kitchen and had a talk with Annalee's

I told her to tell Dianne whatever there was between she and Cody

That's the only way to maintain a kid's trust

I didn't ask her to tell me so I wouldn't invade her privacy only to tell Dianne the truth

I ended telling her stories of Chantal and how much Dianne acts like her

We stayed in the kitchen together till late

I helped her make lunch and dinner while we told stories of our parents, our children, our schools and basically everything

And I think I found my closest friend in this ranch
