Julia's POV

I woke up feeling really tired but I didn't fail to notice that Gregory wasn't in bed with me right now

He isn't one to wake up early except there is something important he needs to do, that's why this is surprising

I couldn't help but think that he has planned something interesting after all it is our wedding anniversary and Valentine's day

But another part of me was worried that he left me for Celine

I pushed aside that thought and got up to go do my daily routine

I took a shower and just as I was about to open the bedroom door, something caught my eye

It was a red piece of paper, placed neatly on the drawer right beside the bed

I walked over to and picked it up feeling happy as I thought it would mean I was right and that he just has something prepared to celebrate our anniversary and possibly Valentine's day

I smiled widely opening the paper to read the contents

My smile dropped immediately as I read the letter

'Good morning to you, my lovely wife. I'm sorry I left without telling you but I was needed at the hospital very early this morning.
Happy Anniversary, baby and a
Happy Valentine's day to you, beautiful
I promise, I'll be back to celebrate with you before dinner
I love you, baby
Gregory'

By the time I finished reading the letter I was full on sobbing. He had just left me for her.

He left me for Celine on our wedding anniversary

I didn't know what to do, I wasn't just confused, I was disappointed, I was angered, I was hurt, I didn't know what to feel

I remained in that spot for 10 minutes, not being able to move, to speak or do anything really

After 10 minutes of feeling everything and yet feeling nothing, I looked for my phone with a blurry vision as my tears had clouded my eyes by now

After searching frantically for a few minutes, I finally found it

I dialed the number of the only person I could talk to right now, Rosemary.

She picked up after the second ring "Hello, Rosemary?" I sobbed into the speaker

"Julia?" She spoke sounding concerned "Julia, what's wrong, girl, talk to me"

"Rosemary, he left me for her" I said sobbing, loudly

"What?" She asked confused "who left you?" She asked still confused

If I was told a week ago that Gregory was cheating on me, I would have laughed in the person's face and defended Gregory but now, he left me for her

"Julia, speak to me please, who left?" Rosemary asked, concern and confusion clear in her voice "Julia?"

"Gregory" I blurted

"What?" She obviously didn't think Gregory could cheat on me " what are you saying, Julia?"

Before I could respond, she spoke again

"You know what, I'm coming over, see you in 10" she said and immediately hung up

I currently sat on the floor in the middle of my room, crying my eyes out
...
Ten minutes later, Rosemary busted through the door looking at me, concern written all over her face

She rushed to my side

"Julia, what's wrong?, why are you crying?, what were you saying about someone leaving you?" She rambled

I just kept on crying

"Gregory" I finally said

"What happened to Gregory?" She asked confused

"Gregory...he....he left me for her" I stuttered

"Left you for who,Julia?" She asked clearly not believing that Gregory would leave me for someone else

"He....he left me f...for her on...our anniversary" I said pointing at the paper, which was now on the floor

She stood up from beside me and went over to where the paper was, picked it up and looked at it for a while before looking back at me

She looked at me for a while before saying

"I don't see it, I really don't see it" she said with a thoughtful look on her face

I told her all about Celine and how she was Gregory's mistress and also a 'friend' of mine

How I met her on the plane and became her one and only friend...her best friend

But for some reason, I couldn't tell her, the love of her life is my husband

She just sat beside me on the floor, listening, nodding when necessary

When I was finally done, I felt as if a great weight had been lifted off my heart

"So, all in all, you are the only friend of your rival?" She asked with a thoughtful expression

I nodded slowly

"Why?" She asked and I tilted my head in confusion

"Why what?" I retorted

"Julia, you are my friend and I have to tell you the truth. What do you gain from all this?" She asked rhetorically and just when I wanted to answer anyway, she continued

"You're punishing yourself by listening to her talk about how she feels about him" she paused "You're punishing by deceiving her, making her think you're her friend even though, you know she doesn't know that he's a married man" she paused again this time for a little longer

"You're...." she started but I cut her off

"Don't you understand? I don't know" I sobbed, "I don't know how to tell her, I don't want to lie to her, I'm not heartless, I know it will hurt her" I started crying for a totally different reason now

I was crying because I knew it was wrong to deceive Celine like that, I didn't want to be wicked, I just couldn't bring myself to tell her

"It's okay, Julia, I'll go make Chantal breakfast and get her to school, just lie down for a bit, I'll be back soon" and with that she was gone

I decided to lie down for a bit thinking about Gregory and I realized that he promised to be back in the evening, I needed to be ready

I was determined to make him choose me not her

I was going to make him fall for me all over again
