EMMA AND RACE

There is no satisfaction

in the knowing

No congratulations

for the going

Few will notice

that you've gone

Down the road

that's ever on.

I know you want

to tame your snakes

You think there's something

grand at stake

There is no mystery

to unlock

You can't get ready for

the shock

The world will take

on darkening shadows

You may hear the sound

of gallows

You'll find the answer

is a lie

It isn't over

when you die.

"Whatcha doin'?"

Emma came out of the bathroom to find Race huddled at the hotel table with pen and paper looking very intense.

"Writing,"

"Writin' what?"

"A song, sorta,"

"Can I see it?"

"It ain't done,"

"So?"

"So, I ain't done," Race was a little indignant, just a little.

"What's it about?"

"Stuff,"

"C'mon, let me see it,"

Race sighed in disgust and rolled his eyes and sat back in his chair.

"Okay, go ahead, here," He sort of threw it at her,

"Well, if your gonna be like that,"

Race was tapping his fingers on the table.

"No, really, I'm sorry, it's just I'm not used to sharing my work,"

"Hey, I don't want to bug ya,"

"No, really Emma, if there's anybody I want to share my stuff with, it's you, it's just something I gotta get used to, that's all, no big deal, really,"
