Drip. Drip. Drop.
Raindrops we're heard against the rooftops.
In the misery of the dead night, two emerald green orbs were the only things visible.
As a black cat, the embodiment of destruction, leaped across from rooftop to rooftops.
Black cats, are considered very unlucky. But this particular cat, had a luck worse than all of the other black cat's combined.
Or so he thougtht.
He considered himself a devil.
Or so he thought.
But, an angel was on her way. To free him of the despair.
As in every devil, an angel strides.
Footsteps were heard by those sensitive ears. Far away. These footsteps grew closer and closer and closer. Until. They met.
"Cat Noir, LOOK OUT!" The strangely familiar voice said as she pushed the cat out of the way and started being possesed by a purple butterfly, meant to possess a blonde superhero.

"Ladybug?" The cat realized before turning around to face the person as the said being pushed him, only to be possessed by a purple butterfly.

"Marinette! What are you doing here?" He gasped as he noticed his assumption was wrong. The voice was familiar to Ladybug, though. He noticed she had a butterfly mark on her face.

"No! Just, just, don't get akumatized!" He whispered in a worried tone as she struggled to get out of the control of evil.
He was horrified of the thought that his princess could get akumatized only because she was trying to save him.
After struggling some more, she banged her fist on a nearby wall and gently said, "No. I won't give in to you Hawkmoth. Making others do your own evil work, I won't do it!"
She broke the bracelet given to her by Adrien and released a black butterfly. Catching it in her palms, she whispered, "No more evil doing for you little akuma. You've done enough harm today."
He gasped in awe as she released the now white butterfly from her clutches. How the heck did she do that! He thought.
That's something Ladybug is supposed to do! He thought.
"Bye bye little butterfly." She said gently.

After a moment of calmness, she turned around to see this.

The utterly shocked face of Cat Noir.

And she couldn't help but laugh

And she couldn't help but laugh.
And that sound, was music to his ears. As if the tinkling of bells.
Cat Noir finally wiped off the tears which were foaming in his eyes.
"It's easier to cry in the rain. People might mistake your tears for raindrops. You okay?" She asked him with a gentle smile and a worried tone.
Nodding, he smiles gratefully.
"How did you do that?" He inquired.
"Do what?"
"How did you de evilize the akuma? That is something only Ladybug can do."
"I have absolutely no idea." She replied.
Thinking it wise not to ask any more questions, he sat stiff.
And then, unintentionally,
He purred.
And as soon as she noticed, "OH.MY.GOD. DID YOU JUST PURR?!" She exclaimed.
"Umm, N-n-n-nope. I didn't." He blushed.
"YES YOU DID! PLEASE ONE MORE PURR! PURR-LEASE!" She said.
He realized that she just made a cat pun and was seriously trying hard to not blush and purr.
"Please! One more!"
"No more purr!" He said, half crying.

After a few moments of Marinette asking questions about this purr thing and Cat Noir totally flustered every time she closes the distance between them only to lean back again, she finally turns serious.

"I don't think I should ask it since it could put your identity at stake but, what's wrong?" She said with a stern look on her face and eyes gazong intently in the blond's emerald green eyes.

"What?" He asked. Wondering where he went wrong. He did hide it away how could she see it?

"You know as well as I do that I am perfectly capable of seeing through a person's fake smile. So tell me, if you want to, what's wrong?" The bluenette curled her lips in a sweet smile followed by the sentence.

She was like no other. She was unique. And he knew it without a doubt. And she would never buy that fake smile.

He seemed to hesitate. His lady had told him not tell anyone anything regarding our personal lives. Not even such a close friend like Marinette.

"I don't wanna force you, Cat. If you trust me enough to tell me about it, I won't let you down." She reassured him.

"Okay." He sighed.
Smiling, she nodded.
"It's just my father. Being.... Uhh.... My father." He blurted out.

"Huh?" Sounded a confused Marinette.

"Okay, well, my mom disappeared and lately, my father's acting super strict than usual.

" Oh. "

"And, he kinda had a fight with me and grounded me for apparently no reason. There are several other reasons too. But, I don't wanna expose them. You'd easily be able to guess who I am and I am pretty sure M'Lady wouldn't be so happy about it."
He chuckled at the last part.

A nod followed.

"Being Cat Noir always makes me feel confident. So, to feel fresh and calm. I transformed and cried to my broken heart's content." He said gloomily.

She felt sorry for him. Such an amazing person as him does not deserve this kind of life. Yes, he did flirt with people and can get a bit annoying sometimes, but he put his whole life at stake just so his Bugaboo could be safe.

Somehow, for no reason, Marinette's company made him feel happy about the shit that's been going on in my life.

After a few minutes of talking, Cat Noir's ring started to beep, indicating that his time of being the black cat was over for the day.

After exchanging their good byes, Marinette finally went to her house. And talked to her optimistic kwami.

"What happened there Tikki?"
"Where?"
"How did I de evilise the the aluma without transforming into Ladybug?"
"Well, it is rare but, I think I have an idea." The said kwami replied.

"Many years later, precisely, the last time I was awoken, a girl named Marideth earned the Ladybug miraculous. She had a heart as kind as yours and soul as pure as light. She was very brave and her Cat Noir too. She was the only Ladybug who was capable of handling supervillaims all on her own. But she still relied on her partner. One day due to an accident, the Ladybug miraculous could not function properly. Of course master Fu repaired them, but before that, when she had to purify an akuma, she used the magic within her." She continued.

"The magic within her?" Marinette asked, confused.

"Yes. She channelised her emotions into magic energy and cast an ancient spell to de evilise the akuma. And unknowingly, you did that too." She concluded.

"But why does it happen? How did I channelise my emotions into magic energy?" Marinette asked.

"Well, it can only be started by strong positive emotions." Tikki said and few away, avoiding any more questions.

"Marinette, you may deny it to your heart's consent, but I know it. You love Cat Noir. Even if you don't know that yet. There is no other way you could have pulled that spell out. The only positive energy radiating off of you, at that time when you we're with your kitty, was love. I could feel it." Tikki thought.

Meanwhile, at a certain dusty old lair:

"This girl, Marinette Dupain Cheng de-evilised my akuma without her being Ladybug. This is certainly suspicious. How did she even do that. I've never seen something like this before. I have to keep a close eye on her." Hawkmoth said in a creepy voice just like the creep he is.
