"Uh." He scrunched his face up. "I got distracted."

"Okay." I chuckled. "And why am I here?"

He took a moment to smile at me brightly. "Because we both needed some company."

"I mean, it was kind of voluntary that I was alone."

"Out of necessity rather than preference." He stated and I frowned.

"How do you know that?"

"Because you don't like causing drama, and it's rather tense at the moment." He said while checking for cars at the junction.

"What are you, a psychic?"

"Just observant."

"Fine, but why do you want my company?"

"Because I'm into you and want to be around you." He smirked with a little quirk of his brow and I blushed.

Wow okay, didn't expect him to just say that openly.

"Isn't it a little unprofessional to take a plus one to your work?" I tried to change the subject.

"I'm a long term volunteer for an animal sanctuary, I don't think anyone will mind, in fact they'll appreciate the extra help." He smiled at me again, and I bit my lip self consciously.

"Need an extra hand to shovel shit?" I asked, and he laughed.

"They should all have been mucked out recently, unless they're having bowel issues you shouldn't have to touch any excrements, don't worry."

"Gross, but I'm fine with shit, I'm not some kind of uptight finicky twink." I commented and he snorted.

"Okay, note taken." He shook his head slightly. "We'll see, sweets."

"Bitch." I narrowed my eyes at him and he smiled.

"If you can keep up with me, I'll take it back."

"You're on."

He chuckled slightly and I rolled my eyes.

"Do you have my phone on you?" I wondered, and he frowned.

"Yes, I do." He stated. "You're not getting it back though, sorry."

"As long as you're keeping an eye on it."

"I am, don't worry." He said, giving me a sidewards glance. "You are though aren't you."

"Hm?"

"You're worried, and not sleeping well."

"I guess, not really..."

"Not at all. You look very fatigued."

"Do I?"

"Have you not looked in the mirror? You're looking a bit pastey."

"Hm, I don't really care at the moment..."

"Did you sleep at all last night?" He asked, and I sighed and bit my lip.

"I just stayed up on my laptop."

"You didn't try?"

"There's no point."

"It's that bad?"

"Sometimes... depends."

"You seemed fine whenever I was with you."

"That's different."

"So it's not sleeping itself you struggle with. Do you get anxious by yourself?"

"I guess that's it."
