(G/N) stands for girlfriend's name
~~~~~~
"Christopher Pine, get your ass back here this minute!"
"You're not my mom!" he yelled back, running away. You chased after him, slipping down the stairs and tackling him onto the couch.
"No horsing around in the house!" Chris' mom yelled from the kitchen, a hint of a smile playing on her voice. Both of you knew what she was thinking.
"He beat me at Monopoly, Mrs. Pine!" you exclaimed.
"I'm sure he did. Go wash up, dinner will be ready soon."
"But, moooom!" you both whined, trudging back up the stairs to clean up the dirt on your hands from playing archaeologist in the yard. Chris turned on the water and splashed some at you while you soaped your hands and you flicked some back.
"Mom, (Y/N)'s flicking soap at me!"
"(Y/N), don't let him get away with it!" You dove at your best friend and rubbed soap all over him laughing. About five minutes later Chris' mom came upstairs.
"Alright you two. Showers then dinner and a movie."
Three years later it was the same. You were sitting on Chris' bedroom floor throwing Monopoly houses at his face.
"Did he win?" his mom asked, placing a laundry basket on the bed. You nodded with a pout and helped clean them up, before organizing the bed how you and Chris had liked it since forever. All the stuffed animals around the edge and your pillows in the middle with one huge quilt. Chris made popcorn, more like his sister made popcorn and he poured a million pounds of butter and salt in it.
It came to an end when you were seventeen. Chris and you had been best friends since you were tiny, but when he was seventeen he got his first girlfriend and your world ended. Someone found out that when you stayed over his house you slept in the same bed and the whole school flipped out. Of course you were sitting with Chris when his girlfriend found out.
"You're a loser," you laughed, throwing pieces of paper at his face. He caught like ten in his mouth and tried to give them back, but you made a face and laughed.
"What the hell, Chris!" his girlfriend yelled, storming into your homeroom. You'd learned to take a step back as soon as she walked in the room so you got your stuff, ready to move, but she yanked you back over.
"I heard that you slept with (Y/N)! What the hell is this? You said you were just friends!" she said.
"I'm pretty sure I'd remember sleeping with Chris," you pitched in, trying to keep the situation down.
"You are not included in this! Go fuck some other girl's man!" she screamed, pushing backwards into the desks behind you.
"(Y/N)," Chris panicked, trying to make sure you were okay.
"So you give more of a shit about her, than me? Is that it?"
"(G/N), keep it down," Chris sighed, noticing the teacher eyeing the conversation.
"No! I'm not going to do that! I want to know if you slept with her or not!" she continued to yell. You scrambled out of the room, someone following to make sure you were okay. At the end of the day you went to where Chris' car was parked and there he was making out with his girlfriend on the hood of it. You walked away for a few minutes, but when you went back they were still at it.
"Chris, my brother's at home and I need to be there, he's sick. Could we go?" you asked, as politley as you could without sounding annoyed. (G/N) pushed away from Chris and pursed her lips at you.
"Tell her, babe." She looked expectantly at your best friend. He looked up, blue eyes meeting yours.
"I-I'm sorry, (Y/N), but we can't talk anymore." Your heart stopped for a second and you wanted him to laugh and tell him you were joking, but he didn't. You turned around, walking away before breaking down by yourself behind the school.
You got home late and your parents yelled at you, but your little sick brother told them to shut up and pay attention to him after winking at you. All you'd wanted was to be alone.
Chris' girlfriend stuck around until he went off into acting in 2003. You didn't hear much of him until he got famous, which left you angry at him while you were stuck in the small town you grew up in, taking care of your little brother after your parents left.
"Hey, sweetpea. We're having a barbecue and you and your brother are welcome if you wanna come," Chris' mom said. She'd called at least once a week or offer to take care of (Y/B/N) when you wanted the night off. It was the middle of the summer and you'd been sitting in the living room watching bad TV all day with your brother.
"Yeah, do you need anything?"
"Nope, just your smiling faces. See you in a bit."
"Bye, Mrs. Pine." Your brother and you changed and walked down the street with some street games. All of the neighbor hood seemed to be at the house and your brother disappeared to talk to his friends. You walked in and went to find Mrs. Pine, saying hello to a few people. As you turned a corner you walked into someone way taller than you.
"Sorr... Shit." Chris was staring down at you with a matching expression on his face.
"You two haven't spoken in a while, why don't you take a walk?" Mrs. Pine said, pushing you back out the door. Both of you followed instructions without thinking, too infatuated by each other.
"So... yeah. Haven't talked in like five years..." Chris tried.
"Remember why?" you asked, glancing backwards at Katie and your brother who were making kissy faces. The two of you laughed, walking slowly in the dying sun.
"Yeah, I was kind of an asshole, huh?"
"Kind of? I'd say you were a massive douchewad." You talked for a little while, taking a circle around the block and turning back when you got to a dead end. While you were walking back Chris stopped you at a certain spot and smiled.
"This is where I talked to you last. It was after your eighteenth birthday. I was invited and your brother requested I stayed late for video games, but I didn't come. It was the morning of your birthday though, just after we got out during senior year. You were wearing a Star Trek t-shirt and jeans that I bought you three years before. I remember because our dogs ran at each other and you wouldn't look up. I said 'Happy Birthday, Princess Nerd'. You smiled at the ground and kept walking." You looked surprised and then asked, "You remembered all that?"
"Yeah," he said, sheepishly turning around.
"Because I remember you were wearing a grey sweater that looked like something (G/N) would buy you, but a shirt under it that I bought you and those stupid sneakers that I wrote Chrissy Chrissy Piney on." He turned around and grinned at you, his blue eyes beaming.
"I remember almost breaking up with my girlfriend to ask you to homecoming senior year. You were going alone."
"I remember wanting you to invite me so bad." You forgot how time working in that moment and Chris leaned forward, pressing his lips against yours. In the spur of the moment you kissed back, wrapping your arms around his neck.
"TWENTY THREE YEARS! IT ONLY TOOK TWENTY THREE YEARS! KATIE OWES ME FOURTY BUCKS! HA!" Your brother's voice could be heard from miles away. You pulled away laughing and walked to your brother. Chris gave him a noogie and Katherine hugged you.
"It was about time," she whispered in your ear.
