It is a beautiful day with lazy, puffy white clouds and sunshine. the valley floor, clouds moving below. Appa moves slowly through the clouds, Aang in Appa's driving seat, leaning back, enjoying himself with a reed in his mouth. Katara stretched out on her stomach looking over Appa's side, while Sokka whittles.
"Those clouds look so soft, don't they? Like you could just jump down and you'd land in a big, soft cottony heap."I say Trying to start up a conversation
"Maybe you should give it a try."Sokka says.Wait what?
"You're hilarious." Katara says
"I'll try it! Yeahhhh!" I hear Aang say
He jumps right off Appa's side, laughing and hurtling down through the clouds with his staff.we all look over the side of Appa as he plunges through a cloud. A moment later Aang lands next to us with his glider soaking wet.
"Turns out clouds are made of water!" Aang says as He airbends himself dry. Suddenly, Katara turns and looks ahead.
"Hey, what is that?" Katara points toward the floor of the valley below around the river is black instead of vegetation green.
"It's like a scar."I say.We land Appa on the valley in the damaged area. Burnt tree stumps dot the barren landscape.
"Listen, it's so quiet. There's no life anywhere."Sokka says.It's like dead
" Aang, are you ok?" I ask him.
"Fire Nation! Those evil savages make me sick! They have no respect for –" Sokka is cut off by Katara. Savages?
Katara points ahead to Aang, standing ahead, clearly upset. He sinks to his knees in the dust and sighs.
"Why would anyone do this? How could I let this happen?"Aang says
"Aang, you didn't let this happen. It has nothing to do with you."Katara tries to assure him
"Yes it does. It's the Avatar's job to protect nature. But, I don't know how to do my job."Aang argues. "That's why we're going to the North Pole to find you a teacher. " Katara says again trying to to cheer him up
"Yeh, a waterbending teacher, but there's no one who can teach me how to be the Avatar. Monk Gyatso said that Avatar Roku would help me."Aang tells us
"The Avatar before you? He died over a hundred years ago, how are you supposed to talk to him?"Sokka asks
"I don't know."Aang admits.
Katara approaches him from behind.What is she doing?
"Hey Aang, are you ready to be cheered up?"She ask him
"No." An acorn flys by hitting Aang on the side of the head.
"Ow!" Aang exclaimes
Aang looked at Katara
"Hey, how was that cheering me up?" Aang ask rubbing his head
"Hehe, cheered me up."Sokka laughs
promptly gets whacked by an acorn from Katara on this side of his head.
"These acorns are everywhere, Aang. That means the forest will grow back. Every one of these will be a tall oak tree someday, and all the birds and animals that lived here will come back. "Katara says
