I wake up to the inside of a truck. Not a moving truck or those types, just a regular SUV.

"So she lives. Do you want me to drop you off, Pheonix?" Gale mutters. I rub my eyes and crack my spine, my limbs quivering as I stretch them. I yawn.

"Nah, I'll walk. Peace out dude, see you later babycakes." Pheonix says, shooting a smile at me. My drowsy mind takes over and I wave and smile back, turning over and curling up into the seat. "And she likes the being who tried to kill her. I see you don't need good luck, Gale." Pheonix states. I hang my head over the side of the seat, enjoying the feeling of the blood rushing to my head. I hear the door slam and sit up straight.

"Take me home?" I plead, my face next to Gale's. He looks at me from the corners of his eyes.

"Back away?" He mocks. I scowl and sit back, crossing my arms.

"Where are you even taking me? Who are you? Why was I assualted? Where are we now? Who is Pheonix? Why is my friend dead? Why are you cannibalistic? What the hell happened? Why are you kidnapping me? How old are you? What are you? Where are you from?" I start pounding him with questions. It's a good way to get people to answer you.

"Enough already!" He finally breaks. I smirk a little.

"Where are you taking me? Who are you? Why was I assualted? Where are we now? Who is Pheon-"

"Shut up! I'm taking you to my house. My name is Gale, you were assualted because you were, we're in a forest now. Pheonix is my friend!" Gale explains in an exasperated voice. The only new information is that he's taking me to his house.

"Why is my friend dead? Why are you cannibalistic? What the hell happened? Why are you kidnap-"

"She died because she was assualted by me! I'm not cannibalistic, you were assualted, and I'm kidnapping you because your body refuses to die." He continues. My smirk grows.

"How old are you? What are you? Where are you from?" I wait expectantly.

"No more than that?"

"How old are you? What are you? Where are you from?" I ask again.

"Nice try sweet-"

"How old are you? What are you? Where are you from?" I keep my voice flat as a deadline.

"Seventeen, an effin Vampire, and I'm from here!" I freeze at his angry words.

"What?" I scramble backwards, pressing away from him.

"Yep, I'm a vampire. And no, I won't kill you, because I can't." He states. I start shaking anyways. He killed Nova, why can't he kill me? He looks at me through the rearview and sees my wide eyes and shaking body. "Didn't you hear me? I'm not going to kill you." I can hear the scowl in his voice.

"How do I know you're not lying. How can I trust you? You killed my best friend." I snap. He rolls his eyes.

"We already tried to kill you, and failed. Remember that, genius?" My hand shoots up to my neck and feels for the wound, but meets only smooth skin.

"What happened to the cut?" I ask, cautious.

"You know how Vampire bats' venom heals the skin and numbs the body so it's victim doesn't feel or find anything? Same thing with our breed of Vampires. That's how the bats got their name."

"Woah woah woah. Did you just say breed? You guys aren't animals. Say type or something. And what other types of Vampires are there?" Gale looks at me through the rearview curiously, his head tipped to the side.
