Through it all
Part 28
*Selena's POV*
My fingertips pinched the bridge of my nose as I tried to take a few deep breaths.
I'm doing this for Justin, I thought over and over trying to will myself through this.
"Mom and Dad are so shocked," Carter spoke loudly leaning back on the sofa that he was on, while I was escaped to the kitchen to 'get us drinks'.
"You told Mom and Dad?" I asked as I walked back into the living room setting the two waters on a coaster so I wouldn't get water marks on my glass table.
"Of course," Carter replied as if it were the most obvious thing. "We've all been waiting years for you to move on."
I took another deep breath and closed my eyes as I spoke through my teeth. "We are not dating. We are just friends."
"Yeah. Sure. Of course," Carter rambled.
"Anyway that's not why you're here," I said bringing us back to the task at hand.
"Yeah good point. Why did you ask me here? Usually I'm the one to ask you to lunch with me and also the fast that you're upset with me just really through me off."
"Well I know you have a friend who's a tattoo artist and I was wondering if he had done any tattoos on like the last year or so o someone's shoulder?" I asked hopefully.
"Yeah of course," he replied. "People get tattoos on their shoulders all the time. Do you know what kind of tattoo? That might help narrow it down."
"3 small tattoos. In the shape of a pyramid. Like stars or circles or something," I said giving him what little information I had.
"Like this?" He asked turning around while rolling up the sleeve of his shirt to display the tattoo that Justin had described.
"All my friends have the three shapes in a pyramid. We all just have different shapes. Mines the stars and Tony's is circles, why?" He asked again.
However I was at a loss for words. Those weren't the most common tattoos.
"Oh I just saw a picture of the internet and I was thinking about getting one like that. I thought it was cute," I tried to play it off.
My brothers best friend possibly killed my best friends wife.
"Oh I wouldn't do that if I were you. Sometimes tattoos aren't always what they seem," he explain giving me a stern look.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked.
"Just be careful. I have stuff I have to do. I'll talk to you later. Be safe," he said getting up and heading out the door.
The first thing I did was grab my phone and call Justin. I needed to confirm it was the circles that he saw.
"Mr. Bieber's office, Ronda speaking how can I help you?" The lady's voice asked through the phone.
"Hi this is Selena. I need to speak with Justin."
"Of course, I'll put you right through."
"Hello?" Justin asked.
"Justin!" I yelled a little too loud.
"Well hello there. Is everything okay?"
"Uh, so you remember the tattoo conversation we had?" I asked taking it one step at a time.
"Yeah I've been thinking really hard about what the tattoo was and I remember perfectly," Justin announced.
"That's great! It was the circles right?" I asked.
"No, the stars. Without a doubt."
"Oh, uh, I, something came up. I have to go!" I yelled hanging up the phone.
My brother killed Justin's wife.
The problem is now, do I protect my brother or the man that I'm falling in love with?
*Justin's POV*
When I got home from a long day of work I was happily greeted by Skylar, Kayden, Harley and Jen. They call themselves the welcoming committee. They are always happily waiting by the door when I get home everyday.
"Welcome home!" They all yelled while Harley held her favorite stuffed puppy in her mouth as a gift to me.
"Thank you for watching them. I know I need to get a baby sitter I just haven't had the time," I told Jen as I sat my bag down on the counter in the kitchen. "Everything been so busy at work lately."
"We have a month left of summer so take your time. I'm just glad were okay again," she smiled at me.
"So how's the pregnancy going?" I asked.
"Pretty good. I mean I'm not feeling too sick or too tired. My doctor says I'm doing good though so that's good."
"That's great. How far along are you?"
"14 weeks. Ryan and I get to find out the gender at the next appointment. We would love it if you would come."
I opened the fridge door pulling out some ingredients to make dinner with. "Sure, I can do that."
"There's also something else we wanted to ask you. Well, two things but the other Ryan wants to tell you so I'll leave it to him," she spoke getting faster as her statement progressed on.
"Jen! What is it?" I asked pulling her back to the real world.
"If the baby's a girl, we want to name it after Aubrey. But only if it's okay with you." This time she spoke must softer and slower.
"Jennifer, I," I started before letting out a breath. "I'm going to have to think about it. I just need some time."
"I understand," she placed a hand over mine. "I know what it's like to lose her Justin. She was my sister. My best friend. You're not alone, okay? You're never alone."
I moved, pulling Jennifer into a hug. "I love you jenny okay? No matter what happens."
"Always," she agreed squeezing me lightly.
