Through It All

Part 16

*Justin's POV*

"Do you have everything set?" Jen asked me for the millionth time as if she were my mother.

"Passports?" She asked.

"Yes, Jennifer," I sighed.

"Plane tickets? Something to do on the plane. It's a long flight, Justin," she said concerned checking our bags.

"Oh my gosh. Jen, you I know I love you to death but chill out. We are going to be okay, I promise. I am their father after all. It's just a few days, if anything happens you'll be the first to know okay? I'll report to you every night if that makes you feel better," I said placing my hands on top of her shoulders to stop her from moving, and hopefully calm her down.

"When do you need to go?" She asked after a few deep breathed.

I looked at my watch before replying. "10 minutes. Come on let's go tell them the surprise. Don't forget what you have to do when we are gone. Don't mess this up, Jennifer!"

"I know, I know," she said rolling her eyes. "It's on my calendar for Thursday."

"Good."

Together we walked up the stairs and found the kids in their separate rooms. We told Kayden to come into Skylar's room so we could all talk. The four of us sat on the bed so I could give the news.

"I know things have been a bit crazy around here for the part few weeks. Also I haven't been their for you guys as much as I should have been. I love you more than anything," I said looking between their two beautiful faces. "You guys have been so good. So to reward you both, we're going to Hawaii! A family vacation! Just the three of us."

"What about Aunt J-Jen?" Sky's soft voice spoke, concerned for her favorite, and only aunt.

"She's going to stay here cause she has school. She's going to watch the house. But don't worry it's only for a few days." I brushed her beautiful locks back smiling at her.

"When do we leave?" Kade asked.

"Now. I already packed all your things. Let's go!" I laughed getting off the bed.

We got everything in the car and the kids strapped in.

"Love you. Be safe," Jen said waving from the door.

"Love you. No boys over and no parties," I said jokingly before blowing a kiss her way and getting in the car to drive us to the airport.

-

"Please put your seat belts on and turn off all electronics," the flight attendant said walking down the aisle in the first class seats.

I helped both of the littles put on their seat belts before putting on my own.

Both of them grabbed ahold of a hand when the plane started rolling on the runway.

"Your ears may pop when we get up higher buts it's going to be okay. I'm right here. I won't let anything happen to you guys," I said looking back and forth between them.

It was a almost 10 hour flight so as soon as the light went off for seat belts and they told us we could turn on our electronics again, I got out both mine and Aubrey's iPad and handed them to my babies.

They quickly found games to play on their devices so I decided to read for a bit.

-

"I'm tired of the iPad," Skylar complained, sitting on her little legs and turned in her seat to face me.

"Me too," Kay signed locking his iPad.

I took back one of the iPad and switched seats with Kayden so I sat by the window and I faced the two of my kids.

"Do you guys remember that game we used to play with mommy? Head up? The one I put the card on my head and you guy have to describe it to me? Do you wanna play that?" I asked.

"Yes!" They both exclaimed eagerly.

I placed the iPad on my head and waited for them to explain.

I knew it may have been a little hard for them because they were both young and didn't know everything but I figured it would still be fun and waste some time.

"What does that say?!" Skylar complained.

"It says green!" Kayden said.

I put the iPad down. "Kayden, don't be mean to your sister. She's not as old as you. She can't read as many words. Help her out. Whisper the word in her ear. You are a team. We all are. We want to get lots of points!"

We tried it again and this time Kayden whispered the word to her like I had told him and they began describing to me the unknown word.

"Uh, uh, it's a game!" Skylar yelled quietly.

"What kind?" I asked.

"Um... You can play inside or outside but you need three people," Kade explained.

"Mommy liked to play this with us," Skylar said with a smile.

"Hide and seek," I said. They nodded happily so I put the iPad down signaling for the card to come.

"I don't know what that is," Kayden said so I turned the iPad up to skip it.

"Oh! The green frog that talks," Sky explained.

"Kermit the frog!" I said, knowing that before that was Skylar's favorite Muppet.

"This lives under the water and it's an animal," Kayden said.

"A fish," I said but they shook their heads no.

"It has lots of legs," Sky said.

"A crab?" I asked. No again.

"8, 8 legs!"

"Octopus!" I said a little too enthusiastically. "Sorry!" I whispered.

They nodded so I flipped the card.

"Mommy told me stories at night about these," Sky voiced.

"Mommy called me this," Kade joined in.

"Mommy said one day I'll have my own like she had you."

I thought about it for a minute racking my brain. Before I could answer time was up.

"It was a Prince daddy!" Skylar laughed shaking her head.

"This used to be mommy's favorite game," Kayden sighed.

"I know we haven't talked much about you mom since what happened. It just makes me very sad because I love her very much. I'm sad she's gone," I explained looking from both if their said little eyes.

"What happened to her daddy?" Skylar asked.

"Do you remember in Batman when that mean man shot Batman's parents in the ally?" I asked Kayden. He nodded. He loved to watch the old Batmans with me. "That's what happened."

I then turned more to Skylar to explain it a way she could understand. "Someone took mommy from us but they don't know who so no one can get in trouble for taking her away. But I'm going to find them okay? Daddy's going to protect you. I won't let anything happen to you guys okay?"

They both nodded and came in for a hug before we all shared, 'I love yous'.
