Kyle smiled at my lame joke, like he always did. I loved him for that. We ate our meal in peace, and I started to relax. I still wasn't sure how I was going to manage as a single mother, but I decided to set it aside for another night. A night when I wasn't enjoying overly expensive food with my best friend.

"So how's the spaghetti?" He asked.

I grimaced. "Not worth fifteen dollars. But it's alright." I took another bite. "I think we could have made it better."

He laughed. "You mean me?"

I smiled. "Okay, I just like yours better. There, I said it." My face burned.
