Kyle

She looked so beautiful, her long blonde hair clipped up on one side, falling like a golden waterfall. Her black dress had a square neckline that sat wide across her shoulders and her necklace was sparkly white with pearls Joe had bought her.

Suddenly I remembered Joe. He was a friend, a kind man, someone who I had trusted to take care of my best friend. Was I really going to take his wife? I shook my head. No. I'm going to take care of her. Once I cleared my head I knew Joe would prefer it this way, for her to be taken care of. For his son to be taken care of. Joe solidified my decision.

"Kyle?" Sarah's blue eyes blinked at me across the table.

"What?" I asked. "Sorry. Lost in thought. You look beautiful tonight by the way."

She blinked. "That was random, but thanks. I was asking what you plan on getting."

I glanced at the menu. "Probably spaghetti. Why?"

Her face seemed to fall, just a bit. I told myself it was a trick of the light.

"Oh, no reason." She said.
