Hawks is almost all jokes, all the time. When he's joking around, you can generally sense the mood that he's in; it's when he stops joking that his thoughts and feelings become a complete mystery. He flirts by joking, he makes enemies through joking, he really is just seen as a jokester even if his personality goes much deeper than that, and his jokes are a way to filter out his feelings when it comes to you.

R - Rescuing you:

If Hawks is the one who ends up saving you, you better be ready for him to gloat for a century. He trails on about how it had been his greatest dream to appear as your knight in shining armor, grinning if you rolled your eyes or told him to just shut up and save you. He's rather upset that, even if he saved you, you're still injured, and can't help but feel disappointed.
