Meera paused for a moment and when she spoke her voice came out in a higher pitch than usual "You can't know everything, it's just impossible"

"Meera, could you please sit down so we can talk" Nandini held up her arm to caress Meera's arm, but she took a step back before Nandini could reach her

"What did you mean when you said you know everything?! Have you been spying on him" being married to one of the biggest masterminds of deceiving, spying, was the only thing that crossed Meera's mind

"How I know is not very important" Nandini shrugged her shoulders in a careless way "I just know everything about Samar, from the day I had to leave him till last night when he got shot, I just got the name of the shooter wrong it wasn't Aakash like I thought, because we had a deal and he wasn't supposed to..."

"What?! Who?!"

"Aakash, I had a deal with Aakash" Nandini said it like it was supposed to be so obvious for Meera which was not, everything seemed shady and questionable to her at that moment

Meera walked backwards until she bumped into the couch, her body landed down, the room was spinning that it took her a moment to realize that she was actually sitting "What kind of a deal you two have that's relevant to Samar?!"

Nandini sat next to her on the couch "I know all of this seems really confusing but..."

"Try suspicious" Meera said with a snort

Nandini drew a deep breath "Just give me a chance to explain, then you're free to do whatever you want"

Meera hid her trembling lips with a smirk "Am I really?!"

Nandini nodded "I promise, and I've never broken any..."

Meera couldn't help but to let out a sarcastic huff at Nandini's last remark, she did nothing but break promises, whether it was the promise she made to her husband or the one she made for her only son

Nandini wasn't that stupid, she knew what Meera was thinking of her, she knew what everyone thought of her for more than twenty years, from the day she left her husband and son, but it was about time someone heard her side of the story, the true story

"I'm not asking you to believe me, Just listen, That's all I'm asking" Nandini said with so much sincerity

Meera straightened her back and looked at Nandini face with compassion, she doubted that she'll believe any word coming out of that woman's mouth, but at the same time, she was dying to hear her story "Fine Mrs Gupta, I'm listening"

Nandini lips curled in a half smile "First, let me introduce myself properly..."

"I think you already..."

"Reha...Reha Anand"

Meera looked at Nandini with a puzzled face...

And that was the least shocking part of that story

Winter of 1993

It was a cold Sunday evening, Reha stood at the kitchen counter preparing Samar's lunch for school, while Raj was tucking him in bed, it was Samar's third school in the past two years, Raj was cautious to change their residence whenever he felt any sort of danger, they didn't stay in one place for more than six months

"He's finally a sleep" Raj whispered as he slowly closed Samar's bedroom door "It's freezing in here, why did you turn the heater off?!"

Reha looked at him with a faint smile before her eyes were back down at the sandwich she was making "Do you really think I like standing in the cold, go check the radiator, I think there something wrong with it again"
