Samar POV

I watched Meera walking towards me and I couldn't take my eyes off of her, she was in a bright yellow dress that stopped inches below her knees, showing her perfect toned legs, and a black belt accentuating her waist, her hazel-green eyes were piercing at me in a an unreadable look, I couldn't tell if she was excited to see me or just terrified, she wasn't expecting me, that's for sure, not after what I told her that morning three weeks ago, I specifically warned her of contacting me except for a case of an emergency, and I also tried to keep my end of the deal, and not meet her no matter how much I wanted to, but I had no choice, because this time, I'm the one who needed her help

Flash back
Tow days earlier

I looked over my night stand checking my alarm clock, it said 2 am.

I grabbed the pillow next to me and covered my face with a frustrated huff, I was tossing and turning in my bed all night, it wasn't the first night I had trouble sleeping, I haven't been sleeping well since the death of my father.

I tend to block the memories during the day by keeping myself busy at work, but nighttime was the hardest, after a long day of work all I wanted is to fall immediately asleep, every night I felt my eyelids heavy, but the thought of that one nightmare that kept hunting me was heavier, and what made it horrifying was that it wasn't even a nightmare, it was real, I keep on dreaming about the day my father was killed, I couldn't even remember the last time I had a full night of sleep without waking up out of breath, but this night was different, this night there was something else making me feel restless

I decided to get out of bed when I knew I wasn't getting any sleep tonight, I put on a pair of jogging pants, toss on a sweatshirt and grabbed my phone and keys on my way out, I decided to walk and get some fresh air, I dialed Arjun's number knowing that he must be long asleep by now, but I didn't care I just couldn't wait until tomorrow, I needed to see him right now

"You better be dying to call me at this hour or I'm going to kill you myself " Arjun sleepy voice came from the other end of the line

I felt bad for him for two seconds, but I was too agitated to care about his feelings "I'm coming over, are you alone?!" I asked

"Would That Stop you from coming?!" Arjun asked and I sensed the sarcasm in his voice

"Not really, just checking" I scoffed

Arjun is my best friend, we were roommates at the academy and ended up working in the same district, we've been working on this case after my father's death, and I've discussed Meera's incident with him, leaving out the intimate details, but he was the only one I trusted on this matter

I knocked on his door and he opened with his eyes half shut "What are you?! A freaking Vampire, We, normal people needs to sleep at night, join us, will you?!"

I rolled my eyes even though I knew he was making a good point, he was right, I am a freak  "Would you shut up and let me in"

Arjun scratched his head and stepped back, clearing the way for me to enter

Arjun rested on the sofa with his hands intertwined behind his head "So, What's the thing that couldn't wait until tomorrow?!"

I was too tense to set so I kept standing with my hands inside my pockets "it's Charlie, he called"

Arjun sat up straight, giving me his full attention "And?!"
