Meera's POV

I sat on my desk, rubbing circles on the rim of my coffee mug, thinking, "this is not how I pictured my life would be", When I studied journalism, I thought I'll be working for one of the top newspapers in town, writing about things that matters like economic issues and civil rights, not stuck in some mediocre showbiz magazine where the top headlines are who got the worst red carpet wardrobe malfunction, or who kissed whom in which party, it's been five years now and I'm still trying to get out of this hole, and it's not like I didn't apply to other respected newspapers, I did hundred of interviews, I just never get any calls back, this job was supposed to be temporary not a life sentence.

Preity entered my cubicle, she was my friends and colleague, and probably my only reason for bearing with this place, I looked at her and she looked like she was going to a party or something, well she always looked this way, I don't know how she manages to be so stylish every single day, me on the other hand never consider myself fashionable, growing up I was more of a tomboy, but I did develop some sense of style mostly by shopping with Preity, apparently I was her best makeover project

"Hey Meera, Are you done with the article I gave you last week?!" Preity asked

"Yeah, I put it on your desk" I replied with my eyes still lowered

Preity sat on the chair in front of my desk "So, what time do I pick you up tonight?!"

I raised my head, looking at her with a puzzled face "Pick me up for what?!"

She tapped on the desk making me jump out of my seat "Don't tell me, you forgot about tonight's event?! The new club opening?!"

I hit my head with my opened palm "Shit, I forgot all about it"

"Well, good thing you have a good friend like me who keep reminding you of your dates" Preity said resting on her chair, folding her arms over her chest

I tilted My head, putting on my best puppy eyes "You can be an even better friend if you go without me, pleeeeease" I said fluttering my lashes

Preity got off her chair pointing her finger at me in a threatening way "Meera, You're going, I don't think Mr Chopra would let you get away with it this time, you know this job is not just about writing stuff, you have to attend the events as well"

I pouted my lips, looking at her with a frowning face "Fine, I'll go, and you don't have to pick me up just send me the location"

Preity clapped on her way out "Great, be there at eight, and wear something nice, you know, clubbing outfit, you never know who you might bump into tonight"

"Yeah, whatever"I said waving at her

Meera's apartment

Meera's been standing in front of her closet for the past 20 minutes trying to figure out how to put together a clubbing outfit which She doesn't even know what it is in the first place, She wasn't a big fan of clubs, They were too noisy for her taste.

After trying almost all her clothes, She finally decided on a black skinny jeans with a leather jacket over a red strapless top, She wore her hair down in large curls, and enhanced her green eyes with a thin line of eyeliner and red-lacquered for her lips, She took a final look at herself in the mirror before leaving, She never thought of herself as an attractive girl, She was a medium height with an average weight curvy body which was probably the only thing Preity envies her for, Preity was a tall skinny with a model type body which got her more attention from men and that didn't really bothered Meera she wasn't interested in relationships in the maintime not after her fiancée of two years cheated on her with her best friend, breaking her heart one week before their wedding, it was almost a year ago, but she still didn't get over it, so to her, men were the last thing on the list right now.
