I sat at the table, staring at the half full champagne glass in front of me, I adjusted my black mask that covered half of my face and exhaled deeply, I never liked these kind of parties, I've always felt out of place and awkward having to dress in a tuxedo and add to that a mask, but I have to give it to Charlie for choosing this event, particularly, it was a formal masquerade ball where wearing a mask was mandatory, everyone was hiding behind a real mask for a change, you could hardly recognize anyone, you couldn't tell a Senator from a low life criminal, even though one could be both, but we'll just have to wait and see

these events were not my favorite place to be, but given the circumstances, I had no choice but to come, now all I need is for Charlie to keep his word, getting inside the Mafia circle is something no one ever had the guts to do, once you're in, getting out is impossible, as even being near them will most likely get you killed, so I needed to find out how to bring them down without getting too close

That's where Charlie comes in, he was going to introduce me to one of the main leaders of this Mafia, Probably the one who gave the order to shoot my father if it wasn't the one who actually pulled the trigger

The art hall was decorated in black, white and gold, I looked up to the huge chandelier hanging from the center of the ceiling down to the dance floor were women in elegant dresses were swaying in the arms of their dance partner, everything and everyone looked ravishing, but to be honest, nothing caught my eyes, the only thing I liked was the music playlist, most of the songs were classics, I know it's an odd taste for someone like me, but I've always liked Frank Sinatra's music, I own most of his original records, they were my father's collection, he used to play them all the time, saying that it reminded him of my mother, even though she left him with a five year old boy, he kept loving her till the day he died, which was something I've never understood, how could you love someone who betrayed you and broke all the vows they took, not to mention leaving her only son behind, I don't think I'll ever forgive her for what she did.

I gulped down the rest of my champagne and placed the glass back on the table with an irritating huff when I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder "is this seat taken?!"

I looked behind me, and my heart skipped a beat, I know it sounds ridiculous, but I couldn't remember standing up, it was like I just floated off my seat and stood in front of the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, I took my mask off to take a clearer look at her, my full of admiration eyes scanned her from head to toe trying to find one single flaw, but it was impossible, she was simply flawless

She was in a mermaid strapless burgundy dress that hugged all her curves in the right places, and her hair pulled back in an elegant low bun exposing the soft flesh of her neck that had a delicate long gemstone beads necklace rapped twice around it

I was on my best gentleman behavior and tried not to stare there, so I shifted my eyes to her slightly hidden face behind the black see through lace mask that she was wearing which made her green hazel eyes somehow greener

Her luscious red lips curled up in a smile and I unconsciously placed my hand on my chest in a foolish attempt to slow down my racing heart..whispering under my breath "Wow"

Flash back

I stormed out of the building with Arjun yelling behind me, I was blind with fury that I forgot all about him

I stopped in front of the building catching my breath when Arjun stood next to me bending over with his hands on his knees, panting

"What the hell man?! You could've at least told me that we're leaving and not make me run after you like a freaking dog" He said, taking short gasps of air after each word
