Chapter 23

Sai and I headed back into the small building where Lady Tsunade was keeping us.

We walked in but we didn't find Lady Tsunade.

"I guess she's still looking for medicine huh?" I asked.

"Probably" said Sai.

"Crap" said Sai.

"What is it?" I asked.

"ANBU break is almost over. If we aren't back by then, we'll be kicked out of ANBU" said Sai.

"That's right. And also, my dad's coming back home tonight" I said annoyed.

"I feel like we are missing something don't you think?" asked Sai.

"Hmm.. now that you mention it, it kind of does" I said.

I thought about what we were missing or something that wasn't there.

"Genma" I said.

We headed upstairs and searched the first floor as well.

"Where is he?! He can't be walking around in his condition" said Sai.

Sai and I frantically looked for Lady Tsunade to tell her that Genma was missing.

We headed into an herb shop and there she was.

"Lady Tsunade" I said out of breath.

"What is it now?" she asked.

"It's Genma" said Sai.

"He's gone."

"Damn where did he go?!" she yelled.

She pulled both me and Sai out of the shop and took us back to the house.

"Did you check around the outside of the house?" she asked.

"No. We will now" I said.

I searched around the trees.

"Itachi!" yelled Sai.

I looked around frantically for Sai.

I found him and nearby was Genma. He was covered in Kunai like a hedgehog.

There were 14 on his head and 19 on his back.

"Lady Tsunade!!" I yelled.

She came running over and saw the hedgehog that was made out of Genma.

"He needs to be sewn up now or he'll die. And..."

"What?" asked Sai.

"I ran of out anesthesia" she said.

Genma then woke up from his unconscious state.

"Sai, Itachi. I need you to hold him down" said Lady Tsunade.

I held Genma's arms while Sai held his legs and Lady Tsunade gripped the first Kunai.

She yanked it out as Genma screamed in my ears.

He started breathing quickly and grabbed Lady Tsunade's hands, trying to stop her from pulling the next one out.

She held his hand as she gently shushed him.

She pulled the next one out as Genma screamed yet again, trying to get out of the grip Sai and I had on him.

"Please stop" he sobbed.

Lady Tsunade stopped surprisingly.

I let Genma grab my hand and Lady Tsunade continued removing the Kunai, slowly.

Genma squeezed my hand tightly and broke my finger.

I refused to cry and he saw that.

Genma was in a lot of pain. He was screaming and crying, fighting to get away. I couldn't watch this for another half hour. I punched him on the head and he was knocked out.

"I need to take a minute" I told Lady Tsunade.

I left the room for a minute and went back in, to see Genma Kunai-free.

He was now awake and thanked me for knocking him out.

"You know, I've known Genma since he was a kid. Sweet kid" said Lady Tsunade.

She laughed. "What a girl he was. He didn't hang out with any of the guys and loved it when people braided his hair" she said.

Genma smiles as he shrugged his shoulders

"Lady Tsunade. We have to go. Tomorrow is ANBU check in" I said.

"Okay. You best be on your way then" she said.

"Thank you" I said.
