It was like a bucket of ice water was poured over me.

My heart stopped pumping blood.

I think I momentarily went into shock. So I just stared at him, his gorgeous face, bleach blond hair, rock star features.

This makes no sense, so…does it mean he hears my voice on a normal bases? Or does he know I’m hear? No, no it can’t be.

I staggered back, I couldn’t breathe.

Vertigo.

That’s it!

That was what I was feeling. Who knew I’d actually be able to use that word?

“You say something babe?” Fifi looked up at him.

“Hmm? No, nothing.” He gives her his full powered smile and I think she was momentarily blinded by the full effect.

I turn away from them, I need some time to think. Heck I need some time to put my brain back together cause my mind has been thoroughly blown.

“OOF!” I slam into someone. Was probably just a matter of time.

“Sorry” I squeak and instantly grab my mouth. Oh crap.

“No problem little-” it was Reed.

I didn’t even stick around. I was outta there before he could even turn around.

I went to the only person I could think of.

No not Susan. But that wasn’t a bad idea.

Ben Grimm.

He was in the corner talking to an extremely frail, pale looking man. The man had a mop of shaggy brown hair on his head as if someone slapped it on, he was talking to Ben fondly as if they’d known each other a long time and have been through so much together.

I couldn’t quiet peg who he was but the name was at the tip of my tongue. I walked around them, Ben was standing with his right shoulder leaning against the wall and a plate of a fancy food with cheese on it in his hand.

“They call this food?” his deep rocky voice rumbles. “I’ve picked my teeth with stuff more filling then this.”

The shaggy haired man looks at Ben narcissistically, “I’d take this over everything else. At least you know what you’re eating.”

Tick, tick, tick

My brain fought to place the guy, he didn’t look like any hero I knew. I think the skinniest hero was Falcon, goosebumps!

I reach Ben’s left shoulder, but before I said anything I sent a silent prayer up to God. Cause if Ben didn’t freak out he might decide to punch my lights out, something I knew I couldn’t survive, so I was setting things right with God before I die.

I gently lay my hand on his shoulder, I shut both my eyes expecting all hell to break lose. I feel his shoulders tense but he otherwise didn’t make a move. I open one eye gingerly and look at him. He was still looking at the shaggy haired man, his composure looked calm. Waw, I didn’t give Ben enough credit.

I moisten my lips and inch closer, my nerves were a complete wreck. “Ben…” I whisper in his ear. “It’s me”

He slightly nods his head, as if to show the guy that he was listening but also in a reply to show me he knew it was me.

I hold back my sigh of relief.

“You cannot believe how big the south western desert is, the general is relentless! He actually had a night patrol-” the man kept talking enigmatically.
