chapter fifty-six; real life

"I want to apologize to you."

I take a step back, bumping into Reece.

"What?"

"I'm sorry."

"So two years later you finally apologize? You don't deny it?"

"Oh, I didn't cheat on you."

My eyes widen, and I fill with rage. "What do you mean you didn't cheat on me? I saw you!"

"You were drunk. You don't know what you saw."

"I know exactly what I saw. Get the hell away from me."

He smirks. "And what if I don't?"

Reece takes a step forward, shoving past me.

"Don't you-"

"Reece, stop!" I grab his hand and pull him back.

"Leanna-"

"Oh how sweet, he calls you your full name."

"Alex, I do not want to hear it right now."

"Why not?"

I roll my eyes. "Seriously?"

"Have fun with your boyfriend."

"Reece? He's not-" I stop. "I will."

I watch as Alex walks off. The grudge I had against him has only

"That was something." Reece says. "And boyfriend?"

"Yes, boyfriend."

"I like the sound of that."

"So do I."

"I wasn't going to ask you like this, but" He takes a step towards me, placing his hands on my waist. "Will you be my girlfriend?"

I smile, pressing my lips against him. "I would love to."

"So how was your day?" Brad asks as I sit next to him on the couch.

Reece went to pick Blake and George up from the train station and then meet up with Joe to try and make some adjustments to the website. It's been out for less than a day and already crashed. He's been gone for about two hours, so he should be back soon, which makes me happy.

"Pretty good. I had a civilized conversation with Alex."

"You did?"

"Well it wasn't exactly civilized, but it's better than what it normally was."

"Really?"

"He wanted to apologize, but that didn't work out."

He laughs. "Why is that not surprising?"

"Because it shouldn't be."

"True." He looks over at me. "I wish you didn't have to go through that. Nobody should."

"It's okay, Brad, seriously. I don't mind it anymore."

"Yea, but you don't like it."

"I may not like it, but it's how my life is. It seems that the universe doesn't want me to be happy."

"That is not true and you know it."

"I know, but it seriously seems like that.

"Well it's not. I will tell you this a million times if you need me to."

"Well I don't, but feel free to tell me whenever you like."

"I'll keep that in mind."

He stands up and holds his hands out.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm hungry."

"We literally just got back from the mall."

"So? I'm in the mood for Nando's."

I laugh and take his hands, and he pulls me off of the couch.

"So, what's new with you?"

"Not much. You?"

I shake my head. "Nope."

"No special man in your life?"

"No. Why are you asking?"

"Because you and Reece seemed pretty close today."

You could say that again.

"Oh."

Truth is, when we had decided to start dating, we decided to start dating in secret. We wanted to keep it private from the boys. By keeping it private from the boys there isn't a chance that one of them would accidentally tell the press or a fan.

"I don't mean to make it awkward for you."

"It's not going to be awkward."

"You sure?"

"Definitely."
