Gaia sat down at her desk, sighing a bit. Most of her little ones were alone now, their parents having left them. She didn't understand how everything could go so wrong so quickly. She thought about what went wrong with her Ancient children. She blinked a bit, realizing that when she was gone than no one was there to watch them. Maybe they had gotten so lonely that they wished to die. That made sense.

That meant she couldn't let the same thing happen again. She smiled a bit, pulling out her gift of life, smiling at it. She pulled out some cloth and thread, getting to work. She knew she didn't have to make all the creatures at once, but she needed some guardians to keep watch of a few of them.

She thought about one of her oldest children Yao. He was normally alone and did need something quickly. She smiled, pulling over the white and black cloth, starting to make a toy bear with it. With black ears, tail, and paws, the creature looked different. It had white where it didn't have the black. A black and white bear. She stuffed the bear with fluff, sitting it off to the side. She knew Yao would love it.

The next child to pop into her head was Gilbert. He had a lot of siblings to take care of and having something to watch him would be great. She grabbed the yellow cloth, sewing up a small bird. She made it tiny enough to sit on his head and just stay near him. Like the bear, she sat the bird to the side. She hopped Gilbert would actually notice it.

Francis was another one who had a lot of siblings. Like Gilbert she made a bird, but this time in white. She made a few more, knowing Francis would need a lot of creatures to watch him. They were a little bigger than the yellow bird but where still tiny.

She grabbed the mint colored cloth, making a bunny out of it. She knew Arthur loved rabbits and she feared he might be needing a friend more than his brothers. She give the bunny wings so it could fly all around him and keep up. It looked adorable and something Arthur would love to have.

So made many more creatures, breaking her promise to only make a few. One for each of her children, one they would love. She smiled at her creatures, breathing life into each one, telling them where to go.

Many years later Gaia was watching her little ones play with their pets. They loved the animals with all their hearts. None of them knew that each pet and creature that came into their lives was made by Gaia. Each cat, dog, rabbit, horse, bird, any animal was made by her. After all a mother does want to give her child a guardian to keep them safe.
