Ruth was glad to be home the next evening, to be able to crash on her sofa and flick through Netflix. Noah was already home when she got back, and heard her crash into her flat.

“Still up for tonight?” Noah asked, following Ruth into the flat.

“I need to get a shower.” She stated, looking up at Noah and sighing. She turned the TV off and walked into her bathroom, leaving a trail of her clothes across the floor as she stripped down to her pants and bra, even leaving her socks on the floor. Noah smiled and picked her things up and placed them on her bed, though dumped her socks in the laundry bin. She had left the bathroom door open; she’d become comfortable with the idea of Noah wandering around her flat.

“I still don’t know what to expect of Ryan.” Ruth said as she stepped into the shower. Noah smiled and sat on the toilet seat.

“He’s a nice lad. Abbie gave him the tab about you yesterday. He understands.” He smiled a little as he spoke. As much as he didn’t like the idea of Ryan, he did seem like a more sensible choice for his baby sister to choose.

“What do you want to do for our birthday?” Noah asked. Their birthdays were one after the other; Noah’s on the 15th October, Ruth on the 16th. This year a Thursday and Friday, and they both knew they’d end up going out on Ruth’s birthday with it being a Friday.

“Go out for a meal with people?” Ruth asked before erupting with “Argh, ow, ow, ow, ffffuuuu” as she shampoo in her eyes. Noah handed her a pink flannel.

“Thanks, sweetie.” She said as she took the flannel and wiped the soap suds from her eyes. Noah smiled to himself as she called him sweetie.

“Who would we go out with?” Noah asked,

“Abbie, Evie, maybe Alyssa if she’s home, our parents, Cattie, Tom and Emma, Millie, maybe?” Ruth suggested as she stuck her head under the shower head, washing the shampoo from her chocolate brown locks. A few minutes later the shower was off and Ruth had a towel around her body and another rubbing the moisture from her hair. Noah chuckled at her, and she turned her back while she dried the rest of her body before walking back into her room and dressing to go to Jessica and Ellis’ place. She wore dark skinny jeans, aqua blue converses, and a white tank top under a grey blazer. She hung her long, gold owl necklace around her neck before grabbing her handbag and dumping her phone and a bottle of water in it. Noah chuckled and handed her the flat keys as they were taking his car.

“You ready?” She asked as she walked from the bedroom. Noah smiled and followed her,

“Of course.” He smiled, opening the flat door and grabbing his jacket. Ruth locked up and followed Noah down the stairs. He unlocked his car and Ruth jumped in shotgun. The drive to his parent’s house wasn’t far, but it was far enough to consider using the car. He parked up on the drive, in front the garage, where Noah and Ruth always had parked ever since the pair had learnt to drive. They climbed out and Noah rang the doorbell. Abbie answered and hugged Noah instantly, pulling him inside. Ruth followed and walked into the lounge. On the sofa awkwardly sat on the cream sofa. He looked about 17 or 18, black hair, brown eyes, and a tanned completion. He wasn’t bad looking, in Ruth’s view, but too young for her, and he wouldn’t understand her on the level that Noah did.

“Hey.” She sat on the adjacent sofa, and smiled politely at the black haired boy she assumed was Ryan.

“Hello, are you Ruth?” He asked cautiously.
