Ruth relaxed on the sofa, cuddling up to Noah, smiling as she finally convinced Noah to watch The Big Bang Theory after nearly two months of pestering. She picked up the pot of special fried rice and dug in. She was becoming more and more used to Noah and learning to be a little more normal.

“You love that stuff, don’t you?” Noah chuckled.

“It’s tasty.” She said as she swallowed her rice, smiling up at him.

“I’m glad you like it.” He kissed her cheek gently. She giggled.

                “It’s rice and nommy.”

“So, what do you wanna do tonight?”

“You’re watching this until I fall asleep.” She giggled. After a week in Newquay and two months of officially being a couple, the pair were getting along amazingly, Ruth even allowing Noah to sleep in her bed at night, though sex was still out of the question, though spooning  definitely wasn’t.

A few hours, and about 8 episodes of Big Bang later, Ruth was asleep on Noah’s chest. Noah smiled quietly and switched the TV off, picked Ruth up, trying not to disturb her, and carried her to her bedroom, placing her under her duvet, wrapping her up warm. She smiled and pulled her jumper off. She grabbed his arm, looking up at him with bleary eyes, smiled cheekily at him. He pulled his jeans and jumper off, and climbed onto the bed and began spooning. He felt Ruth pull her shorts off and began to quietly snore, as she always had. Noah relaxed and dozed off. He didn’t care that he had to go to work in the morning and teach Evie, and this would leave him in a good mood all day, possibly all week. It was the first week of term, and everyone was tired and worn out already.

The next morning, Ruth woke up, felt Noah’s warm arms around her. She rolled over, kissed his cheek, and got out of bed, leaving Noah asleep in bed. He looked up at her, happiness radiating from his smile.

“Morning, Ruth.” He smiled, rolling onto his back and standing up. Ruth giggled and sorted out her breakfast while Noah walked into his own flat to sort himself out for the day. Ruth felt at home with him around, comfortable, but not too conformable, it was pleasant. She was happy, and Noah was ecstatic. They both left at the same time, walking down the stairs hand in hand, giggling, and chatting about things.

“I see what you like about Big Bang.” Noah chuckled as he got to the car.

“I’m glad you do.” She smiled,

“I gotta go work, see you later?” He asked, hugging Ruth tight.

“See you later.” She smiled, kissing him gently. She broke away, ruffled his hair, littered with blond highlights from the sunny summer. She got in her car, he got in his. They drove off in opposite directions to work, both smiling; both happy; both knowing they were in love.

Abbie sat at her desk in form, personal statement coated in green pen for her to edit so she could try and get into university. She watched the flickering eyes of Evie as she tried not to look at Charlie, but kept failing, then trying not to make eye contact with those blue eyes she saw to be so wonderful. Even after three weeks, she was still cut up about it. Alyssa was still at home, about to head off for her 4th year, and the brains of her sister were slowly slaughtering the hope confined within Evie’s fragile heart.

Ryan walked in and Abbie beamed at him, so happy to see him after his month-long adventure in the States. He sat down next to her and kissed her cheek gently.

“I am so glad to get back from Alaska; it’s cold there.” He complained. Abbie just giggled, smiling in awe of her boyfriend. “I still need to meet your brother’s girlfriend.”

“Yeah, can you come over tomorrow night? They’re coming over then. And I need to warn you: no touching, no hugging, no sarcasm, and please understand she doesn’t intend to be rude.” Abbie begged. The door opened and Noah walked in, looking intensely happy,

“I am in a good mood this morning; I don’t want you guys to ruin it.” He declared as he booted Tom’s classroom computer up.

“Did you get laid last night, sir?” Damien Temple asked loudly, laughing. Evie and Abbie both cringed, though Evie also laughed a little.

“If he managed to get laid, I would personally congratulate him.” She erupted.

“You didn’t, did you, Bro?” Abbie asked, still cringing.

“No, no I didn’t.” He said, a smile still painted across his face.

                “Liar.” Damien shouted.

“Trust me, he didn’t.” Abbie smirked. “His face is very different when he does; he’s far smugger then.”

                “And how would you know?”

                “He’s my brother, dumbass.”

                “But there’s like a decade between you…”

                “And?” Evie snapped, defending Abbie.

“Oh, is his girlfriend your freak sister?” Damien sneered.

“Damien.” Noah warned, loading the register.

“She’s not a freak.” Abbie snapped at Damien.

“Ooh, touch-ee.” Damien raised his hands, palms up, in mocking defence, before laughing again. Abbie stood up and walked around to him.

“Abbie.” Noah warned, really hoping his sister wasn’t about to do what he thought she would. She grabbed the collar of his top and yanked him up.

“Do not say anything bad about Ruth.” She growled. Damien just laughed, though there was a little fear there. Abbie swept the stray hairs from her old pixie crop, which she was determined to grow out now, but kept glaring at Damien.

“Whatcha gonna do, Abigail?” He asked, still laughing.

“Well, considering you don’t know very much,” she began before giving Damien a Glasgow kiss, knocking her head against his nose, making a red stream trickle from his nostrils. Noah ignored it. Abbie let go of him and sat back down in her seat.

“Sir, did you see that?” Damien asked in shock, dabbing the trickle of red liquid with his fingers. Noah looked up and kept a straight face.

“I saw nothing. Must be karma for being rude about someone with a genuine disorder that they’ve spent their entire life dealing with to try and be accepted by society. And I am pretty sure she’ll achieve more with her life than you ever will.”

“Are you people hearing this? You can’t say things like that to me!” Damien shrieked, appalled by the truth of his tiny life.

“Saying what, Damien?” Ryan asked, the entire form nodded. Noah smiled a triumphant smile. He had finally beaten the school bully; something he could never do when he was their age.
