Chapter 19- Ping! The sound we dread…

Dan’s POV

“I’m not a wuss, right Hank?” I ask my brother uncertainly. “I don’t know what happened. I couldn’t move. It was weird. I wanted to help her but I couldn’t. My legs were cemented in the ground.”

“So philosophical.” He said lightly.

“Ha. Ha. Ha.” I said flatly.

“I know, I’m so funny.” He said smugly, polishing his nails on his shirt.

“So funny I forgot to laugh.”

“Damn right Danny boy.”

“What do I do?” I asked, not bothering to hide the desperation in my voice.

“Bro, you are whipped.”

“Not helping.” I seethed.

He rolled his eyes. “Ask. Her. Out.”

I pulled my hair in frustration and groaned loudly. “UGH! F*CK!”

Jillian’s POV

“Oh my god Brittany what the hell is wrong with me!”

“Nothing. You basically saved his butt.”

“But I don’t want to seem all hot headed and arrogant. I’m so boyish sometimes! UGH!”

“Whoa, chill tiger. You didn’t do anything wrong. And how can you be too boyish?”

“Oh god! What if he thinks I’m lesbian?”

My sister raised an amused eyebrow. “Lesbian?”

“I mean, don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against lesbians, but I just don’t roll that way, you know? I google shirtless guys in my spare time! I mean for goodness sakes I held a gun in my hands!”

“But it was fake.” Brittany so kindly pointed out.

“I kicked two grown men in the nuts!” I exclaimed, hoping she would catch on.

“So?”

“I probably scared him off!” I cried in desperation.

“Why do you care so much?” She asked curiously.

“I JUST DO!” I screamed, tears pricking my eyes.

I turned around and swiped them away. I don’t know why I’m getting so worked up over this. After all ninety nine percent of the time, I’m just paranoid.

“I don’t know, Jill. As much as I hate to admit it, I think you’re falling for I-buy-ice-cream-and-break-cell phones-guy.”

“I-I-I…can’t.” I frown sadly. “Right?” I looked at her hopefully, wishing she’ll give me her approval.

She only sighed and shrugged. “Your life, not mine.”

I let out a loud huff and stomped to my room. I just needed to sleep.

Dan’s POV

I can’t believe it. I’m actually doing it. My family never thought they’d see the day. I’m so proud of myself.

I finally tried cauliflower.

I’ll admit it’s not as bad as I made it out to be.

Ping!
