It is New Year's Eve and I don't have anyone to kiss. For the past three years I've had someone to kiss to welcome in the new year, but this time around I am single and getting drunk out of my mind.

I walk into the pub with my friends, our arms are wrapped in each other's as we make our way to an open booth. I slide in at the wall and let a sigh leave my lips when I sit down. Man, these heels are killing me. I don't why we decided to get dressed up like we did, we are at a small pub in the middle of downtown Vancouver that isn't busy even when there's an hour left to the start of the new year.

Taking the opportunity to look around, I see there are people scattered all over the smallish pub, the majority of them are older than my group of friends but that won't stop us from having a good time!

"I think I'm going to start with shots, I want to wake up tomorrow forgetting what happened tonight." Alisha chuckles and calls for the bartender. I whoop in agreement with the rest of our friends, I want to start the new year off right! Drunk as a skunk and a wonder hangover.

"Let's just go all out." I say and another cheer comes from my friends in agreement. The bartender comes over and takes our order, when he walks away I lean back against the seat and tilt my head upwards. I want to get drunk and forget my own name, I want to forget the man who hurt my heart and because of him I don't have anyone to kiss to welcome in the new year. It feels like a tradition that I have been following for a long time now, but this year it looks like no one is kissing me. And I am OK with it, with the mindset I have I wouldn't be surprised if I am puking when the new year strikes.

The first round of shots is downed and I let out a blah sound, my eyes and nose scrunch as the tequila burns the back of my throat. One down, plenty more to come!

Half an hour goes by and I'm downing another shot of alcohol, my eyes are scrunched closed and then I reopen them at the same time a bunch of guys my age walks into the pub. They take seat at a table a few tables away from me and my friends, I keep my attention on one of them. A buff blond haired male with flowy golden locks.

As I turn my eyes off him, our eyes connect and I find myself staring into the blue eyes of the blond haired male. I feel my hands become clammy as we keep looking at one another, neither one of us breaking eye contact. I see him curl his lips into a smile and that sets my heart rate sky rocketing. He has such a pretty smile!

"Ooh, look at him." Alisha whispers into my ear. I blush violently and turn away from the blond haired guy. I grab for my water and sip it, my eyes now on Alisha beside me.

"Eh." I mutter as I sip on the water, trying to ignore those blue eyes focused on me.

"You got to admit he is cute looking." She says nudging my shoulder with her own. I turn my eyes back onto the blonde haired male, his lips are still curled into a smile as he talks among his friends.

"Yeah, he's pretty cute." I nod and turn my eyes off him. I look down at the glass in my hand, a smile on my lips too. He is pretty cute and his smile is pretty, can I get his name? Or better yet, his number?

"Ooh, by the end of the night you'll be snogging the face of him, I guarantee it." Alisha chuckles and I roll my eyes at her words. If anything, I might be in the toilets puking up my guts because of the amount of alcohol consumed already.

"Ha-ha." I mumble and roll my eyes again. Another round of shots is placed on our table and I reach for the shot glass, I'm already starting to feel myself get drunk and I know this night is going to end the way I want it to. Drunk and happy!

I tip the alcohol down my throat and shut my eyes closed until the taste leaves me, as I reopen my eyes they level with the blue eyes from before. I let a smile form on my lips at the guy staring at me, he returns it and we keep eye contact until someone walks in front of our connection.
