Lydia's POV:

"Sound fun," Stiles scoffs. He really must not like this situation.

"So what do we do?" I want to get on with this as soon as possible.

"Well, all I'm going to do is give him a serum for hyperalgesia, and all you need to do is stand back, except for you Derek. I need you to help me hold him down. From his shoulders, of course."

I'm still a little confused, so I ask,

"What exactly is hyperawhatever?"

"Hyperalgesia is more of a state of being than a disease, where your nerves are damaged or sensitive due to damage. That's exactly what's happening to Scott, when the new host took over, and then left again, the nerves were damaged because they kept locking and unlocking onto different conscious's. Make sense?"

"Um sure. Just get started."

He walks over to the table with Derek. Derek walks around and pushes on Scott's shoulders. Deaton is fills up a syringe with fluid. I'm scared for what is to come, so I look down and hug my arms. Suddenly, I feel someone else's arms around mine.

"It's okay Lydia, everything is going to be fine," says Stiles. Its funny how he can make me feel so safe so quickly.

I look up and see Deaton preparing to insert the needle into Scott's arm. He looks at Derek, and nods once. Then he pushes the needle into his skin, releases the liquid, and take it out. Within seconds, Scott starts to shake. The thing that I didn't expect happens next.

The voices flood over and around me. They come so fast and loud I can't hear anything else. I fall to my knees, out of Stiles' arms, and cover my ears.

Stiles is yelling at me, but I can't hear him. Scott is moving, but I can hardly see anything. I curl up in a ball, and try to stifle my scream. That didn't work at all. I scream as the voices persist in attacking me.

"Stop!!!!" I scream into the void of my mind. And the strangest thing happens.

They do.

Stiles' POV:

I sit beside Lydia on the floor. I yell at her that it's okay, it she can't hear me. She's screaming so loud, I almost want to cover my ears. Lydia abruptly stops screaming, but Scott doesn't stop squirming. He's almost conscious, but not yet.

Lydia, slowly sits up, and looks around. She looks at me with wild eyes, and I know what's coming next. I slide my arms around her, and pull her into me right as the tears start. I lean my back on the wall, and she leans on my chest from the front.

"Stiles, I- I did it," she says in between sobs.

"What?"

"I made them stop. I could never do that before. I don't know what's different now."

"Do you know why they came?"

"Actually, I think so. Scott is unconscious, but coming back, right?"

I nod.

"So then he's technically dead, but now he's not. So the voices came because he was close to death."

"That makes sense," I say and look at the table. Scott is almost fully conscious.

"I wish I could sit like this with you forever, but we should get up now. I don't won't to be lower than Scott when he wakes up."

She nods, and I get up first. I hold out a hand so she can get up. She grabs it, and smiles on the way up. She wipes away her tears, and puts on a brave face. I swear, Lydia is the bravest non-warrior girl I've ever seen.

Lydia's POV:

Stiles offers me a hand, so I take it with a smile. Stiles is definitely the nicest boyfriend I've ever had. I stand, and wipe my tears. If anything, I need to be strong now. I need to prove that I can not be scared.

"Alright, Stiles and Lydia, stand back," says Deaton eagerly. I take a few steps back, and so does Stiles. I want to see this though, so I hold my ground.

Scott starts to clench and unclench his hands. He's sweating a ton, obviously because his nerves are active 100 times more than usual. Suddenly, he opens his eyes.

They're his alpha eyes.
