Y/n's POV
I looked down at the words written on my arm, "Bye, I love you."
It's so generic, yet means so much. Every time anyone says it, either on tv or real life, I flinch.
When I met Shiro, our first conversation was about what what written on our arms.
His was,'I love you too.'
We started dating a few months after that.
We've been together for three years now. We moved into a small apartment together, and it really is quite lovely. Shiro works in the police force, and I'm an artist who works at home. Every night when he would leave for work and say,"Bye, I love you" my heart filled with dread. I've even tried changing up my response like;
"Love you too!"
"You know I love you too!"
"Love ya too babe!"
But sometimes I do just say "I love you too."
As I sat crisscross on the couch watching tv, I heard Shiro's heavy boots walking up the hallway. He walked in in his uniform, handsome as always.
"Well, I'm off to work!" He leaned down and kissed me gently.
"Ok babe, be safe."
"Bye, I love you!"
"I love you too."
He left through the front door, and left me alone. The second he was gone, my heart filled with dread. I said the response again. What if this was it? What if I never see him again? We've had this conversation so many times though. This can't be it.
I tried to settle my nerves, and it worked slightly. I watched tv until midnight and then fell asleep.
I awoke with a jolt, the phone was ringing. I checked the time, 3:33 am. I was asleep for barely three hours. I answered the phone, "Hello?"
"Yes hi is this Y/n L/n?"
My heart stopped.
"Y-yes."
"I've called to inform you that your telephone bill is due at the end of the week. Thank you."
My heart started beating again. I sighed and headed back to the couch.
I stayed up until 5:30 when Shiro came home.
"Y/n! Why are you awake so early?"
I jumped in his arms.
"I had a bad night."
"Well it's ok my love, I'm here."
