Priceless

by sloanranger

Someone should really have warned her,

when he found her there on the corner.

He was very shy,

but he did not lie,

he told her his name was Jack Horner.

"Would you like to come home with me?"

The girl said to him, merrily.

She giggled and smiled,

the boy was beguiled,

he replied: "I will if it's free."

"She said: "I've not fallen for you -

my time is worth something, too.

If you don't have a ring,

and you don't want to cling -

why should I do that for you?"

He stumbled and mumbled a bit,

all the while chewing his lip.

"But see here, my miss,

I've never been kissed,

I'm not sure it's the time to commit."

"Well, what do you think I should do;

just sigh and feel sorry for you?"

My charms are not free,

you're no honeybee -

so go, if you don't love me true."

'My girl, can I please think it over?

I heard you're a pretty good lover.'

"If goods aren't bought,

my hand must be sought -

and no sampling under the covers."

'Oh, heck, this is not what they told me;

but frankly, I think you've sold me.

My money's all gone,

so come right along -

I guess, you'll just have to console me.'

Though t'was nothing, like his friends said,

eight years now, they have been wed;

six boys since that day,

a girl on the way -

she paid dear ...when he got her to bed.
