An Ode to Gnome

by sloanranger

I look out from my window at night, but inside my heart does yearn,

I know that things aren't right, and daily grow more concerned.

Where is the love I seek, my ardor's very keen -

I wait now, just like last week, when you said, twelve-fifteen.

Gnome! What is it that you feel ... do you love another?

This love of ours I know is real...

no! I don't want to meet your brother!

Perhaps it's just my foolish pride but you've got my passion peaked.

Have you gone and tossed true love aside? Gnome you have some cheek!

You may look all over this wide land, one like me, you'll not discover ...

No, you can't go see Lou Ann! Besides, she's with her other lover.

I've searched through hill, I've searched through vale -

searched through copse and glen... I'll put DebZirOeZ on your trail ...

No, I don't want OwainGlyn!

Really Gnome, you're the limit! I don't care about that fishing pole...

If you're not here in fifteen minutes, I'll put that pole of yours on hold.

And then by heaven, you will see -

you'll wish you'd married DebZirOez!

Lonely nights, remembering, but I'll make out, so will Lou Ann,

I'm having thoughts now of dis-membering,

all the parts of you, I can!

If I spy you or that rod, you'd best turn the other way -

Or you'll be walking very odd,

my sweet, little Gnomey Bosanquet!
