I Have No Gin

Everyone, this is based on OwainGlyn's wonderful poem posted yesterday called:

The Maid of Zennor. Mine is, of course, a satire : )

I Have No Gin

by sloanranger

I sit

Perched precariously,

High on some

Liquid spirit or another

Brow-level with raucous writers,

And catfights, dogfights of

Some unknown furry war.

I would begin...

but

I have no gin

Far below me

Flows a sea

Of endless words

All by writers

Better than me.

It is a sin...

but

I have no gin

It may be, I hear below

The gurgling voice

of Shelley

Calling to me

Come save me -

I cannot, I plea...

you see

 I have no gin

No, 'tis not Shelley,

'tis you, not him.

And for a moment

I am glad,

Its you who calls

until I recall,

you cannot swim.

Are you mad

I say

I shall not

dive in

I have no gin

I sigh

And turn away.

No being brave,

No life to save

for me today.

I'll find a shop

That has Bombay

And I'll have me

Some gin, Today.
