Suzie Wants A Sweety
by sloanranger
Suzie wants a sweety,
a sweety, can't you tell?
I know she wants a sweety,
I know that look too well.
I offered her some chocolate,
A mint and lollipops -
she shook her head and then refused
nineteen lemon drops.
Her lower lip was trembling,
she gave a pretty pout,
squeezed her eyes so hard until
one sorry tear came out.
The girl had gone & got herself
Into a royal snit –
She cried & cried & don't you know
I couldn't make her quit.
"But Suzie lookee here," I said,
"at what I've got for you!"
I offered her my licorice stick
and a Milky Way, or two.
"You silly goose I have a sweety,
this one's name is Fred -
but don't know how I can remove,
the others 'neath my bed."
"Fred hides from me you see, just like the other two,
I can't imagine why they hide – my love is really true."
"I just adore my sweeties," and she stomped her pretty foot,
"they really are so very sweet, they just will not stay put!"
