LITTLE JULES had just turned thirteen when she glanced at Bryce Andersen for too long. It wasn't an ordinary stare, no. It was a look that lingered on his cute chubby face and made her heart flutter in the most peculiar way.

She couldn't understand why her cheeks flushed when Bryce returned the gaze and wished her happy birthday once again. He'd come closer, smiling.

"Happy thirteenth birthday, Jules." He had said.

Little Jules smiled in return as she felt some heat creep up her neck. "Thanks, Bryce. Want more cake?" she'd asked.

He wasn't one to pass on the offer.

Little Jules watched Bryce playing along with the other friends she'd also invited for her birthday. She couldn't stop staring at him, and she kept wondering as to why, out of the blue, she wanted to keep glancing at her longtime next-door neighbor, Bryce Andersen.

It felt weird.

But it also felt nice.

And that was only the onset of her troubles.
