-florianraven is a lovely writer on Wattpad and has written books such as 'Out of Time' which has 516k reads, and  'When Time Collides' which has 234k reads. It was brilliant to interview her and here is what she had to say!

Why did you start writing on Wattpad?

I started writing on Wattpad in 2015. I knew about this site a few months before signing up, but I just didn't do it. Not because I was afraid to share my work, because I'm not. I was just too lazy to do it and I ended up forgetting about it. My first project was a failure. People tore it apart like ravenous wolves would deer. It didn't phase me, though. I took it down and wrote another story, which was also a failure. And then I wrote the 'Time Walker' series that put me on the map. I wouldn't say that I started writing on Wattpad for fame. That was one of the reasons at first. But the more time I spend on this amazing platform, the more I realise that I write here because I love doing it and love sharing my passion for writing with other writers and readers. I do it for the love.

What's been your proudest moment on Wattpad?

That's a hard one because I've had so many moments to be proud of -- meeting new friends, becoming an Ambassador once upon a time, 'When Time Collides' winning an award. But I think getting featured has been my proudest moment as well as being able to finish the story that managed to gain the reward, which has always been a hard feat for men. 'Out of Time' getting featured changed everything for me. It was what put everything in motion in putting me here right now.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

My horse is my biggest inspiration. When I have writer's block coming on, I spend a few hours with him. Funnily enough, the idea for 'The Masquerade' and 'Blood Ties' came to me because of him...after he threw me off while riding.

Which book has been the most fun to write?

That's another hard one. I've enjoyed writing so many of my stories that I wish I could go back and experience writing them again. Though it's been, and still is, a frustrating process to write this book, in having the most fun writing 'The Masquerade.' It's my baby. I spent 13 months planning it and world building. Hopefully, it'll be a story that really puts me out there outside of Wattpad.

What's the hardest part about writing on Wattpad?

Advertising. That's always been the hardest for me to do. It's hard to do because you can't use a 'read my work' mind control device to force people to read your work. Much of my popularity came from hard work and luck, and very late nights trying to be the first to post on the Share Your Story threads.

What type of chapters are the most fun to write?

That's a throw-up between utterly sarcastic characters and tortured ones. These two characters are ones that I've loved writing in 'The Masquerade'. Theo, my sarcastic character, is modelled off me a lot as Andi is in the 'Time Walker' series, and Raleigh is the opitome of the tortured character, and I love writing him. I love writing these kinds of characters because I've been on both ends of these spectrums; I feel like I can relate to them.

And finally, what advice would you give to a new writer on Wattpad?

Be patient. Things on this site do not happen overnight. It takes a lot of commitment and work and a little bit of luck. Work hard and write for you. Always write for you, not for fame or for the masses. Always remember that you're doing this for you. Make some amazing friends and write some fantastic books, because everyone can be as big as they want to.
