HSH_DeathStar is the account full of amazing short stories, including the likes of '100 Voicemails' and 'Personal Assistant'. With thousands of followers and millions of reads (9.89 million being her highest), I wanted to know what inspired her and what she loved about Wattpad!

You've been on Wattpad for three years now- what made you start writing on Wattpad?

I used to be on this app called High School Hero/ HSH and I started writing short stories there. When the app shut down, my writing friends and I migrated to Wattpad and decided to stay in touch through that. And yeah, I just resumed my writing on Wattpad.

Where did the inspiration for '100 Voicemails' come from?

The inspiration came when I was reading The Fault In Our Stars for the first time. I would mention the specific part in the book but I'd hate to be spoiling it for people who haven't checked it out yet.

How did it feel to hit one million reads for the first time?

It was surreal, honestly. My best friend bet that I was going to reach that goal and I just laughed at her, saying that she'd lose. She won and then later on, taunted me about it. XD But it felt amazing to hit that many reads, I was beside myself from happiness.

What can we expect to see from you in the future? Have you got any books up your sleeve?

Oh yeah, definitely. I already have 2 other short stories up and I'm working on a novel at the moment. It's a lot harder and time consuming than a short story. One thing's for sure though, I'll keep writing and making up stories.

What's the best part about writing on Wattpad?

The readers. It's because of their encouragement and their enthusiastic comments that made me stick to writing. Everyone's so caring and supportive that it just melts my heart. The community is the best, in my opinion.

How does it feel knowing that 10 thousand people are following you and thousands have read your books? Do you feel a certain pressure to deliver?

Yes, absolutely. Even after the readers tell me to take my time with writing (bless them) I sometimes feel like it's my duty to deliver. And when I start feeling like it's a duty, I start seeing it as a chore and it gets difficult to write. It's not the readers' or the followers' fault though. I can't handle the pressure very well and I'm hoping to deal with that.

What's the most memorable experience you've had since writing on Wattpad?

I think that I have several instead of just one memorable experience and most of them include the conversations I had with my old friends from HSH and the new awesome ones that I made on Wattpad. Those are things that come to mind and it just proves that friendships formed on social media is real and that it's not laughable at all.

And finally, what advice would you give to a new writer on Wattpad?

Keep writing and keep reading. Those are like the two sides to one coin and you can't do one properly without the other. It took me almost 2 years of writing on Wattpad before my work started getting recognition so don't give up.  (God, that sounds so cliche) But it's true. Just stick to it long enough and keep writing because you love it and because you want to. (I still have to remind myself that sometimes.) So just hang in there 😉
