Mind Over Matter

Chapter Twenty-Six.

Lyra's P.O.V

The weeks passed and it was the day of my grandmothers funeral, Me, Sirius, Lily, James, Lainey, Remus and Marlene had been given permission to attend as a group and come back to Hogwarts tomorrow.

Currently I was stood in my bedroom looking in the mirror, I had on a black knee length dress, my hair was curled and I had a short black veil covering my eyes.

Grabbing my lace parasol, I walked downstairs to greet everyone, I kept my gaze on the floor as I knew if I looked at my Mum I'd start crying.

I felt a hand on my arm and I looked to see it was Sirius "we have to start walking down now" I nodded and opened the parasol as we stepped out of the door.

Holding it above my head with one hand, I linked arms with Sirius, we walked slowly to the graveyard where the ceremony was being held.

I could already feel the sadness wash over me and a singular tear rolled down my cheek, Sirius stopped me and looked down at me, with a finger he wiped the tear from my cheek before kissing my forehead "I love you Luna" I half smiled.

"I love you too Snuffles"he smiled at me and we started waking again.

Everyone took there seat and I held a piece of paper in my hand and a royal blue rose, Sirius also held a blue rose.

"A few words from her beloved Granddaughter Lyra" I took a deep breath and stood up in front of the podium "I'm not really good at these speech things, so I wrote mine down" a few smiles could be seen.

Spreading the paper out I sniffled "My grandmother was a very strong woman, she was loving caring and compassionate, she new how to cheer me up, stop my tears and chase my nightmare away, she was one of my biggest influences in life"

Tears began to roll down my face "I hope one day I can be half the woman she was and I hope I make her proud, she will forever be in the hearts of all who met her as she treat them like family, I'll love and miss you grandma" with that I sat back down.

Sirius wrapped his arm around me "I'm so proud of you baby" I smiled "as I'm aware some of you have flowers to lay down?" We nodded and everyone who had flowers stood up, me and Sirius waited until last.

I gently laid the flower down and smiled "I love you grandma" Sirius then laid his and we walked away from the coffin.

As soon as we were out of the way of people I broke down into hysterics, Sirius luckily caught me.

"I miss her already" he nodded and rubbed my back "I know baby, but we need to get you home" I nodded and let him help me up.

We wobbly walked back to the house and I frowned when seeing everyone "I don't want to be down here" Sirius nodded and we went upstairs.

Sitting down on my bed I frowned, Sirius knelt down and took my shoes off and then unzipped the back of my dress, I slipped out of it and he grabbed his shirt before putting it over my head.

I lifted my arms up and he smiled before kissing my forehead "got to keep you comfy kitten" I smiled and laid down "stay with me?" He nodded and sat by my legs.

He softly began to stroke the bare skin of my legs in a soothing manner.

"You think things will get better?" Sirius looked down at me "I'd like to think so, but I'm honestly not sure Kitten" I nodded and slowly closed my eyes.

Sirius' P.O.V

Soon enough she had fallen asleep, I silently got up and went downstairs, immediately her father and mother came up too me "is she okay?" I nodded "she's sleeping"

They nodded "probably best thing for her right now" I nodded and followed them into the kitchen "she knows something bad is stirring up out there" her mothers eyes widened "how do you know?"

"She asked if everything would be okay, but she asked as if she knew the answer" they nodded "we're all uncertain as too what is brewing out there, but we will be ready when it hits"  I nodded.

"I will be doing everything in my power to protect her, she's my world, they only thing that matters" her father smiled brightly "I'm glad she found someone like you Sirius, you're such a brave young man, I wouldn't wish for anything more for my little girl"

I smiled, someone was at least proud of me "I just don't know what to do, they'll eventually come for me, if there planning a fight" Lyra's dad put a hand on my shoulder "no harm will come to you my boy, you have our family and you have the potters"

I suddenly hugged him, his arms wrapped around me "you're part of the family now Sirius" I smiled and pulled back "Sirius would you like something to eat?" I looked at Lyra's mum.

"No thank you, I'm going to go check on Lyra incase she wakes up" the both nodded and I walked upstairs, going to the very bottom of the hall I walked through her open door to see her stood by the window.

A cigarette hung from her lips and her bare legs were crossed, I slowly walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her from behind and she relaxed into my touch.

"It startled me that you weren't there when I woke up" I kissed the bare skin on her neck "Sorry Kitten, I went downstairs to speak with your parents" she nodded.

She blew smoke out and held the cigarette near my lips, I smiled and took a drag inhaling deeply then exhaling shortly after, she threw the finished cigarette out the window.

Turning in my arms I smiled down at her, she wrapped her arms around my neck and looked up at me with a sense of innocence, but there was a flash of something else there too.

She walked over to the door and shut it before flicking the latch down, she then spun around to face me.

I began to walk towards her and she met me in the middle "Sirius.." I looked down at her "Yes kitten?"

She smirked fondly at the name, before she stood on her tiptoes to whisper something in my ear, my eyes widened "are you sure?" She nodded whilst biting her lip.

Soon enough we were a tangled mess on her bed, her eyes held such a loving stare as she looked up at me as I hovered over her body.

She arched her back and leaned up to kiss me softly "I love you Sirius Orion Black" I smiled widely "I love you too Lyra Rose Gladstone" her smile mirrored my own.
