monday

After our little midnight date, I snuck Brooklyn back into her window. Funny enough, there was a ladder on her lawn so she just climbed into her window and i put it back where it was. I didn't see her for the rest of the weekend, which was a little weird since we were almost always together, but it was fine.

"Harry!" My Nana called, I peeked my head out from the bedroom and headed downstairs. "Yeah?" I responded and she smiled at the sight of me. "I made you some eggs," she said grinning, ear to ear. I sat at the dining table and soon a plate of steaming scrambled eggs were infront of me.

I laughed. "Thank you, mom never makes me breakfast." I said taking a spoonful of the scolding hot eggs, that burnt the shit out of my tongue.

"Hey, Nana. I was wondering- if I got a job, do you think that my parents would let me stay in London for one more year. I could pay my own tuition-"

"Oh, baby. That school is 24,000 a year, there's no way you could pay that on your own. As for your parents I think they'd probably be fine with it, they're busy and I guess it takes some of the pressure off of them. Plus, you'll get to stay with me longer! And I love the company!" She beamed, i forced a smile as I continued to eat. She immediately sensed I wasn't happy, and sat down across from me.

"Is this about that cute little lady friend you've been talking to?" She asked, rubbing my hand. I shrugged. "I-I guess, I really like her."

"Have you kissed her?"

I chuckled, looking down at my plate. "Yes, I've kissed her, Nana." I responded and she smiled, clapping. "Oh well it's set in stone! If you really wanna keep her, poke some holes in your condoms. You got her for 18 years!" She said, I wasn't entirely sure she was kidding. "That's how I had your mom. Your Grandfather was a-"

"-Okay, I think it's time I get going!" I said, chuckling uncomfortably while she continued to giggle and laugh to herself. I strung my backpack across my shoulders and kissed her goodbye, before rushing into my car and driving over to Brooklyn's house.

In a few minutes, I arrived and pulled my car to stop right outside, hoping she'd come out before I had to honk. I couldn't help but notice her mom, TJ, and her talking to a separate family on their lawn. The family consisted of a mother, a tall man, and a small girl. They were black.

Brooklyn smiled at the boy, shaking his hand and introducing herself. I couldn't help but feel a deep pit in my stomach when I saw him touching her. If might've just been friendly, but as much as I tried to get rid of the feeling it couldn't leave.

They both pulled out their phones and swapped, possibly exchanging numbers. She reclaimed her phone from him and waved goodbye to both families, and the boy before jogging to my car. I quickly looked down, and turned on my phone, acting as if I wasn't eavesdropping.

"Hey" she smiled, reaching over to click her seatbelt secure. I started my car back up and began to speed away.
"H-Hey." I responded, trying my very best to sound like everything was okay. "You okay?" She asked. Not doing a very good job, Harry. "Y-Yeah, I'm fine." I smiled, taking a left turn onto the main road. She just nodded.

Silence fell over us, and for the first time in days- it was awkward. I wondered if she felt it too, maybe it's just me making shit weird.

She smacked her lips together, continued to nod. "So... how was the rest of your weekend?" She asked, glancing over at me. I pursed my lips, shrugging. "It was alright, nothing new. What about you?"

"It was fine, went to one of Junior's field hockey games and I met my moms new boyfriend, and a new family moved in next door.. so eventful but not really." She said, and I just smiled, not knowing what to add on. I fucking hoped on every star in the solar system that whoever that boy is, isn't going to Lincoln. He might, because it's in the area but it's also really expensive. But whoever could afford to live in this neighbourhood, can afford a school like that.

Our awkward small talk ended and so did our car ride. I parked in my usual parking spot and we separated, entering our independent classes.

As much as I tried to focus that kid was on my mind all day and it was killing me. Am I jealous?
