Joan rode her favourite pony, Skye, across the horizon. She looked side to side, blinking at the empty land. The mare galloped but Joan couldn't get into the spirit. She thought about 3 years back, when she and Elizabeth were riding the Whyteleafe ponies across the same spot, a happy, friendly environment, completely the opposite to this cold, lonely place. Tears formed in her eyes but she shook them away as quickly as they had come.

"What am I, Skye?" The pony shook her head in reply, almost saying that she didn't know. "Am I really the monster they think I am?" The girl lost complete concentration and was slipping away from the saddle! She gripped on for dear life as Skye reared but it was too late - she fell to the grass. Tears formed again but this time she allowed them to fall down her cheeks.

"I am the monster they think I am."
