Talking and laughing, children walked in. They gazed round at the building in awe. Miranda, who had been made a monitor last term, looked at them. She said, "I'll take you to your dormitories." The new children went with her and found their rooms. Many had already made friends, like Lola and Daisy and were excited to think of spending the term in a boarding school! Soon, the older children were fitted into their rooms. Miranda smiled. "I'm your monitor," she said to the new children. "Along with another girl called Joan."
