3rd Person POV

The race is on. Everyday. Every night.

Spider-Man, also known as Peter Parker, has been on Y/N's nerves since the dawn of time. Or when the two of them got their powers six months ago. Peter Parker got bit by a spider, then he became Spider-Man. Y/N L/N got experimented on, basically being dunk into many, many different pools of water, the people thought nothing happened to her, so they wiped her memory and let her go. Needless to say, she got water manipulation and she became Agent River.

So here the two of them are, fighting crime and bickering back and forth between each other. Frenemies. Originally, Agent River beat Spider-Man to a bank robbery, she knocked out at least one guy before he appeared.

"Would you give it a rest!" Y/N yells at the boy who just shot a gun out of somebody's hand. "I can handle them, you can leave now!"

"Are you sure about that, Princess?" The boy teases as he punched one guy square in the nose. Pipes burst from all sides of the bank, soaking the robbers head to toe in water. "Well maybe."

Y/N freezes the robbers in their current places, leaving only their faces unfrozen so they breath. "Yes, I do got this, but you could do something useful and call the police. I have . . . somewhere to be." The truth is, Y/N didn't want to go off on Spider-Man, like she does all the time in her head after fights.

Right before Y/N left the crime scene, she smacked Spider-Man behind his head and ran off. A common thing she does to him for being . . . just him. It meant nothing personal, just the thing they do.

Police sirens sounded in the distance as Y/N ran up the side of a building. Drops of water flew from her hair, dry hair. This doesn't normally happen. She stopped herself onto of a Queens roof top, just watching.

Water dropped down from her hair, then quickly evaporated down her back. Her powers, anything to do with water, were doing everything at once.

What is wrong with me?

Her knees buckled against the ground as she begun crying, but the tears quickly evaporate from her cheeks. Damn my powers. They are a curse. Not a gift.

"Hey, Agent River?" A small voice said behind Y/N. She couldn't even bother to look behind her to know that's Spider-Man. Stupid, selfish, Spider-Man. "Are you okay? You sort of just ran off after everything."

"Don't I always though!" Y/N responses in more of scream than what she was going for. "You always have to show up, and when you do, you get all the credit it for it. Spider-Man this, Spider-Man that, even little oi Spider-Boy getting all famous. But honestly, when is there anytime for Agent River who helps out just as much as you do. I'm just angry and upset and tired of everything. Worst of all, some-something is wrong with me." The girl screams out again, and now broken down to sobs as well.

There was nothing Peter could say to calm Y/N down. So instead, he just quietly walked over to Agent River and sat down next to her. He pulled the young girl into a hug as Y/N used Spider-Man as a pillow.

"Hey, hey, River, I want you to take a deep breath and wipe your tears away." Peter says, rubbing the side of Y/N's arm.

"Th-they already are, they just keep evaporating after they left my eyes," Y/N laughs, taking another breath. "And my hair is dripping water and as you can tell, my hair is perfectly dry! M-my powers are just, I dunno, messing with everything and anything." She sighs, looking up at the other superhero in front of her.

"Then listen to me, River. I can help you, and you will just have to trust me. I-I can get help from M-Mr. Stark and he can figure out what is happening to you. And as for me, I am truly sorry about what hell I've caused you. I know we are both just doing are jobs and stuff, but I want to be on your side now, not against you." Peter tells Y/N reassuringly. He moves a piece of hair out of Y/N's eyes and smiles at her sparkling eyes peaking through her mask. Peter himself moves apart of his mask to above his nose. He's crying too.

It wasn't a long cry either, his tears froze over fairly quickly and soon enough the two of them begun laughing.

———

School started the next day and it didn't help that Y/N's powers were getting worse. She passed by a water fountain when it exploded, sending water everywhere. But she did her best to hide inside her sweatshirt from being exposed or publicly humiliated.

From the corner of the hallway, Peter could see everything happening around the poor girl. Someone's water bottle froze up, water shot in Flash's face -well that was funny- and water leaked from her shoes.

No, no, she probably just stuck her foot in a puddle or something.

By lunch time, Y/N and her powers got worse. She sat alone, like most days, and watched her water bottle freeze and unfreeze every couple seconds.

It took her a few minutes to realize someone else sat at her lunch table across from her, a boy. Peter Parker, a boy in Y/N grade and shares chemistry and algebra with. He sat there, smiling widely at Y/N, almost creepy.

Without a thought, she smacked the water bottle off the table and onto the cafeteria ground. Luckily it didn't explode or anything, but made a rather sad noise.

"D-Do you need sometime, Peter?" Y/N asks, trying to sound the most human she possibly could, after all, she hasn't spoken to anyone all day.

Peter let out a little laugh, "care to tell me why your fingers are frozen together?" He points at her hand, two of them stuck together. Y/N removed her hand from the table, hoping her fingers would thaw.

"Uh, no? Just a little accident in the lab today." She brushed it off and took her other hand to rest her chin on her palm. "Now, you wanted something?"

"No, no, I just want you to know, Agent River, that you are secret safe with me and Mr. Stark will gladly help you out with your problem." Peter let out a single wink, hoping Y/N would catch on.

"Spider-Man?"
