I've noticed that recently, there's been an increase in books with 'character aesthetics' sections, and I thought that it might be helpful if I wrote a segment covering ways to find characters images that work well for you.
I personally don't usually make aesthetics for my characters— they're not really to my taste, and though they do look pretty, they take a lot of time to make and I don't really find them worth my effort. In case you're curious, here's my try at one, from a little while ago—

But what I do like to do is find images depicting my characters — I've recently made it a habit to find pictures first and then write description based off of that. This often makes it a lot easier for you as a writer because it means that whatever coat color you're picking is possible in a cat(unless it's photoshop), and it's also easier for you to remember and visualize your characters.
For the story that I'm writing for Camp Nano 2017, I've made what I call 'character depictions' for all of my characters. This is actually really helpful because I actually know for sure what everybody looks like now! Honestly the hardest part of making these is finding the picture — it can often be hard to find a high quality picture that matches what's in your mind exactly. Here are a few examples of what I've been doing—
