Good afternoon guys! It is Willow, here to give you some tips on Colors.
I will cover (in order of appearance, first to last):
(1) Contrast
(2) Color Scheme
(3) Hues, Tints, Tones, and Shades
(4) What Do Colors Symbolize?

C O N T R A S T ⇢

noun - 1. the state of being strikingly different from something else, typically something in juxtaposition or close association.

"the day began cold and blustery, in contrast to almost two weeks of uninterrupted sunshine"

⇠⇢

In the case we will be talking about, contrast right now will concern text. Having good contrast reduces eye strain, focuses a reader's attention, and keeps everything neat and also keeps the reader happy. The most effective way to get good contrast is the background color.
By choosing distinct, complementary colors, the text is easily readable. (EX ~ white background, black text)
Sometimes, however, by choosing a color scheme where the text is the brightest element, it will reduce eyestrain and get the reader focused. (EX ~ black background, white text)
A lack of contrast will drive reader's absolutely insane! Your/Their eyes will not know what to focus on, and it will instantly strain their eyes! (EX ~ blue background, slightly darker shade of blue text)
A complementary color scheme does not mean the contrast is good. One of your colors may be too bright in comparison to the other, which will lead to eye strain (EX ~ yellow background, red text)

If you need help choosing a good background and text color that also maintains a good contrast, try choosing a light or pale colored background with a darker text (EX ~ light gray background, black text)
Have you ever been reading an informational book, like a school textbook, and it highlights or makes certain words stand out? This is a good tactic which draws attention to different parts of the page.

However, the lighter-background, darker-text idea isn't always the best. Look at this example and read what appeals to your eyes.

C O L O R  S C H E M E ⇢

noun - 1. an arrangement or combination of colors, especially as used in interior decoration.
"a cool, simple color scheme"

⇠⇢

A color scheme is a choice of colors used in (in our case) graphic designing. There are three common and accepted structures that help you choose a good color scheme.

(1) TRIADIC COLOR SCHEME

The Triadic Color Scheme is composed of three different colors from three different ends of the color spectrum. See the following steps to find your Triadic Color Scheme: 1. Get a color wheel
2. Choose a base color (For my example, I will be choosing yellow)
3. Draw an equilateral triangle, in which all three vertexes touch a color, one of which touches your base color.
There you go! Those are your three colors, which form a good color scheme.
