"What do you want?"

"You know exactly what I want, you know exactly what to do love."

His eyes traveled down to my lips then his hand moved quickly to my neck but in my head everything was happening much slower as his suit got thrown aside.

The first sparks of fire had long been ignited and when he touched me it was like he threw all the wood into the fire pit. He was the fire I was the wood and it was like walking into a burning building knowing it'd be the death of me but his power had me participating without consulting my will. The scientist was right I knew too well what to do with him so my hands pulled his shirt towards me and I got on my toes to feel once and for all the taste of his mouth. His hands helped me stayed where I wanted and as we kissed against that old bed and breakfast dresser things were headed in the only direction possible.

"Stop," I said unlacing my body from his, "I didn't come on this trip for this."

"Stella come back."

"No, I won't be such an ingénue. This will ruin our professional relationship. And what you pulled tonight on that sweet man was because of your jealousy not mine."

"Yes, I was the greenest shade of the green eyed monster when you were out there laughing, dancing with some other that wasn't me." He confessed instead of denying it like I hoped he would. "But as for our professional relationship, it's been long ruined for me."

"Is that why you chose me for the trial?"

"What?"

"Oh wow Jess was right, I didn't get this fair and square did I?"

"What did Jess tell you?"

"The truth, she told me the truth but I didn't want to miss out on this so I just let you make all the decisions and look at where we are now."

"Stella..."

"No I mean why didn't Jess get it? Was she less willing to go along with your advances so you'd thought you'd be better off picking me? Is that it?"

"Jess? Who is Jess in the scheme of things, in my life, in your life? She is nothing but a speck of dust that flies invisibly around us and if on a hot day you're sitting on your car and you tap the cushion you might see so many others like her you wouldn't even care to single her out. But you, you're the sun, you're not to be ignored Stella, and that is what Dr. Fitz realized too when we both chose you." He put his hands on my shoulders from the back and his face touched the top of my ear.

"You're my boss, don't do that," I took his hand off my shoulder, "and I won't risk my job, my career over this."

"I'm not asking you to risk anything."

"Yes you are, you told me you didn't care about the rumors but I do, they can end my hopes of staying in Syracuse. And if this gets any worse, if Dr. Fitz sees something, or the chief I'm done."

"Well then you should know then I have no intentions of keeping up this act. Every day in the lab I try to be professional, keep a safe distance but I can't do it anymore."

Still in shock of his confession I let him slowly reel me back into his arms, "and your kiss is the undeniable proof of what you've also felt from the moment I almost drenched you in coffee."

"No this isn't some pretty little story, we need to think and be professionals about this."

"I can be a professional if it's what you want," he moved my hair to kiss my throat.

"That is so not what I mean," I picked up his face in my hands.

"I am certain about wanting you Stella," he looked at me as I held him.

"Certainty scientist?"

The contradiction was too obvious to what we had previously spoken and agreed upon, feelings changed over time, people changed nothing ever remained the same exactly like he said at Fitz's dinner. Houses got old, people rotted on the inside like fruits or they became better like a blooming flower but nothing was ever to be counted a certainty.

"Yes," he moved my hands from his face close to his chest, "just be mine."

"Yours? I am no one's," I argued.

"Are you sure?" Then his lips devoured the taste in my mouth with his tongue, "I don't think you believe your own words so you should just let me..."

"Get some sleep," I stepped back from where he stood, "you're absolutely right," I felt a deep relief from abandoning his second intentions.

"That's not very likely now is it?" He chuckled licking his lips.

"You need some sleep too," I tightened the thin belt into bow and he watched smiling.

"I won't argue if you give me your belt," he began to unbutton his shirt.

"And to think I was considering letting you sleep on the bed with me."

"You don't have to consider it because I am sleeping on the bed tonight dearest."

"No you're not," I argued but he held my arm and pressed me to him.

"Yes I am or will you let your scientist sleep on the floor? You don't have to be bad just because we've had a disagreement love."

"I will only let you come on this bed if you promise not to touch me."

"You're not serious," his behavior was giving me a headache.

"Promise me," I got away from his forced embrace and he threw his eyes to the side trying to dismiss it, "promise me?"

"I promise not to touch you as long as you don't want me to."

"Thank you."

"So do you want me to?" He said fighting a tug-of-war over the comforter so I could cover myself.

"Let go of the covers please."

"Fine but that robe is not as thick as you think," he chuckled as I put one pillow between our sides of the bed.

"Shut up and go to sleep," I laid on the bed and covered myself up to the neck.

"Any other orders I should follow Stella?" The scientist made sure to change into his pajamas in front of me before coming to bed.

"Wear a shirt please."

"Fine but that won't stop you from thinking about me." He said with enthusiasm for mocking at my staring so I turned away and he climbed into bed. "Sweet dreams."

"It better be," I placed another pillow between us and he rolled his eyes at but I was too upset with my weak heart losing its way from the rules which kept things in their right place. The scientist won and got me on his side with kisses that were so much better than the ones in my dreams and although my body would gladly beg for more my mind rejected its wishes...
