Chapter 24: Blushes

     Today is the day of Leafy's showcase, and she is driving me crazy. It's six in the
morning and she expects me to load all of her shit in the car. She literally had a duffle
bag for each costume, which is seven! Ugh, I need to get up before she comes throwing
bras at me, she's done that once before. I got out of bed and went and did my morning
routine. When I was done, I peeked into Leaf's room to still see that she had her hair up
in rollers and a fucking face mask on. "Leaf! What the hell?!" I shouted angrily. She's
been rushing me all morning to get dressed and ready to leave. I don't even know why I
need to leave, I'm leaving with Green at four! "What's your problem!? I'm getting
ready!" She yelled in reply. "Why did you wake me up so early then?!" I asked, irritated.
I need my beauty sleep also! "I thought that you would need some more time, geez." She
replied while scraping the mask off her face. "You look like a troll." I said while walking
away. "You take that back!" Leaf yelled as she threw her hair brush at the door.  
    
     It's about three in the afternoon and I'm now truly getting ready to leave. I put on a
long sleeved navy blue polo shirt and khaki shorts. Leaf specifically told me to dress
nice since she wants me to take a picture with her. I don't get it cause she's gonna have a
million pictures with her dance friends. Whatever, Leaf is the most confusing person on
the planet. I put on some cologne and tossed my hair a little bit. I was brushing my
teeth when I heard my phone buzz. I got a picture from Green. He took a mirror picture
of him wearing a suit.
"How's this?"
"You're too dressed up. But you look great."
"What are you wearing?"
I sent Green a picture of my outfit to give him an idea.
"Oh, casual but nice, got it."
"Lolllllll."

I put my phone down to continue getting ready. I'm getting a little hungry as well. I was
making more pizza rolls when I got another text from Green.

"Alright, how about this?"
He sent me a picture of him wearing a white polo shirt with dark washed blue jeans.
"Much better."
"Thank you, see you soon. :)"

     I'm waiting for Green to knock on the door for us to get ready to leave. I've already
eaten all of my pizza rolls, so I have nothing to do. I don't want to watch tv because I'll
get sucked into the show and won't want to leave. I hope that me inviting Green to this
thing won't make things even more awkward between us. I don't know if he's gotten
over what I've done to him. I doubt he has, I wouldn't even talk to me if I was him. I was
so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't even hear Green knocking on the door!

     I bolted off of the couch and sprinted to the door. I caught my breath and answered
the door. "Hey Green." I said. I looked Green up and down. He looked amazingly
attractive, like more than usual. He smelled nice also, and had a bright white smile.
"Hey Red! You ready to go?" He asked, stepping out of the door way. I nodded and
walked out of the door with him.

     Green and I proceeded to walk to the theatre in Viridian City. It's a thirty minute
walk, but it was nice. It's seventy degrees and sunny. I watched the wild Pokémon run
around in the fields and the Pidgey peck at the ground. Green and I mostly talked about
how this showcase was going to be. I explained to him that she was going to be in seven
dances. "So is this for the school or for some other program." Green asked while putting
his hands in his pockets. "It's for the school ya dingus, it's been all over the walls." I
explained. It's been all over the announcements, twitter, posters, everywhere, and
Green still didn't know. "I haven't been listening, I sleep in most classes haha." Green
chuckled. I rolled my eyes at him but couldn't help but smile. I felt a pang in my chest at
the same time. I have so many regrets.

     Green and I took our seats in the middle of the auditorium. We have fantastic seats.
We could see the entire stage without turning our heads. "This is exciting!" Green said
with a giant smile on his face. "Leaf is gonna do so well!" I said. Green took out the
program and had me circle the acts that Leaf was performing in. When we were done,
the lights went out. The first act was the entire team doing a routine with Beyoncé's
music. Leaf was in the third dance. She did her jazz routine with two other girls. She
was also in the seventh dance, this was her ballet dance. She dance to Jar of Hearts by
herself. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I even started crying. "You
okay?" Green nudged me. "Yeah, it's just that good." I replied while wiping my eyes.
Green grabbed my hand and squeezed it while smiling. I felt panic rise when he started
to hold my hand. I have so many mixed and confusing feelings. I thought that he had no
desire to be like this with me! Does he like me? Is he teasing me? Is this payback for
what I did to him? I'm so confused! Stop it Red! I need to focus on this showcase! Just
let him hold your hand and enjoy it!

     The rest of the showcase went on amazingly. This is honestly the best one that Leaf
has been in. Her hip hop routine got everyone in the audience hyped. Green even
started singing to the song. While we were waiting for Leaf to come out to see us, Green
bought her some flowers. I decided to be a smart ass and just make a leaf bouquet out of
twigs. Green rolled his eyes at me when he saw what I had. I think its genius if I say so
myself. Leaf came out of the front doors and ran towards Green and I. "Red! Green!
Thank you so much for coming!" She said as she hugged us both. "We got you flowers,
sort of." Green said as he awkwardly handed her his flowers. I held out my leaf bouquet
and Leafy nearly lost it. "Red! This is the funniest thing ever!" She said while laughing.
"Thank you so much guys!" She said, starting to tear up. We told Leaf how good she did
and she left to go ride back home with Mom. Green and I decided to walk back alone.

     "How did you like the show?" I asked. "It was great, I didn't know that Leaf was that
good at dancing." He replied. "She's always been good. She's very talented." I explained.
I remember this one dance recital she had when she was twelve. She got the loudest
applause from the audience, way bigger than the big competition teams. It came natural
to her. "What are you good at?" Green asked. "Besides from running, fucking up." I
explained. "Oh." Green replied. "I didn't really mean to say that, I'm not trying to bring
up old shit. Sorry." I replied, feeling bad now. Great Red, you just killed the night. "It's
fine. Just know that if you be a good person, your mistakes won't haunt you." He said
with a smile. I blushed when he said that. We arrived at my house shortly after. "Thanks
for coming with me, I had fun, good night Green." I said. "Good night Red!" Green said,
pulling me into a long hug. I couldn't help but smile like an idiot when I walked into my
house. This is just like how it was a few months ago, only I'm the one blushing.
