my body is mine
it was never yours
or anyone else's
and never will be
it belongs to me
and will belong to me
for as long as I live
I know every curve
every mark
and every spot
that covers it
my years have worn
and carved
into my skin
and I embrace it's beauty
because it is a part of me
I will never
let anyone
dictate and control
how I dress my body
how I change my body
how I use my body
because it is not theirs
it is mine
and it's as simple as that
though to some, it is too simple to understand.
they are our bodies
and you have no damn right
to even think
you can control us
you have no power over us
now say it out loud
"I do not own her body; she may do as she pleases with it"
I am free
but alas
we are not all free
the fight
for all of our bodies
continues
something so simple
is still so complicated
(though it really isn't)
but we will stand together
for the rights of all of our bodies
because my body is mine
our bodies are ours
not anyone else's
and I will never let anyone
take that away from me
we will never let anyone
take that away from us
and we will fight
for the ones
whose bodies are not free
because as long
as someone is controlled
we too, are unfree

"respect existence, or expect resistance."

happy women's day, and remember: we are not free until every woman is free as well. We must fight for each other, because if we do not, then we are all prisoners as well.
