it's so unfair

Oh how I wish
That things weren't like this
We are all people underneath
Why can't people just see that?

I want to be able to help
I want to be a good person
And fight for what is right
I see all of this suffering
And hatred and wrongness
Everywhere I look
And I want to help
But yet I feel so helpless
Its like being locked inside of a room
With no way out
No one can hear me screaming
And no one knows how much
I'm hurting
And every day I'm reminded
How much hatred there is
In this damn world
And I'm so tired of it all
I'm tired of trying
To make people see
That we're all humans underneath
But you can't cure
The ones who were taught wrong
You can only hope
The future isn't so dim

People are always ready to forget
The bad things that happened
As long as it didn't happen to them
It should be easy to forget
Isn't that right?
But as I lay down in my room
Safe in my bed
Not fearing for my own life
Or the lives of the people I love
I realize just how lucky I am
I have been handed an unfair advantage in this world
Just because I was born the way I am
Just because the way I am
Is "normal" in today's society
And just thinking that one word
Makes me sick
Just thinking about some people
Makes me wish we never came
And corrupted this beautiful earth
Because before we screwed it all up
And created normality
The earth was good
The earth was pure
It just breaks my heart
Knowing I am just one person
And everyone knows that one person
Cannot change the world
No matter how hard they try

And that's why we must come together

Don't let them fool you
The future isn't here yet
We are not done fighting
Whether that fight is for love
That fight is for liberty
Or if that fight is for life
Don't be so ignorant you refuse to look around and see
What's happening around you
Don't ignore the pain and suffering
Because if you are
You're part of the problem

I know that I'll never be able to understand the pain others are going through
I know my place
And I know how too keep my distance
As long as I don't move so far I can't see what's happening
One step to curing the world
Is to do something about it
Not alone,
But to do something together
Stand up as one
And then maybe
Just maybe
The world will start to listen
And we can begin fixing the damage we've done

As long as we fix it together
