Chapter 181 - Still Sick

Start from the beginning

"I love you." I sighed, and sat up to kiss her, tasting coffee on her lips.

"I love you too, have a good day." She gave me a quick hug then I heard her leave my room. I pulled myself out of bed, and brushed my teeth, when I heard V talking to Abigail. "You'll be fine sweetie." I heard my wife reassure our teenager.

"I know, I just, I feel awful, and I feel bad because, I mean, I don't want to bother everyone with it, and I got Seb sick." She groaned and I frowned.

"Mija, everyone gets sick sometimes, you should see your dad when he's sick, he won't leave bed, trust me honey, you aren't bothering anyone, people take care of you when you're sick, it's what people do, it's what parents and grandparents do. And we're very happy to do it." I bit my lip a bit, overhearing this. It was true, I didn't mind helping out with sick Abi, and I am a pain when I'm sick.

"Okay." I heard her say, "have a good day at work, I love you." I smiled a little, and left my room.

"I love you too Mija, let your dad take care of you."

"Yep." I said, leaning into her room, she was sitting under the covers, Seb on her lap. "You don't have a choice little ones." I laughed, and picked Seb off of her lap.

"Daddy!" He smiled a bit, as I set him on my hip.

"Well, I should go." Vanessa said, and quickly kissed Abis hair, "feel better." She said, and got up, she quickly kissed my cheek, then left the apartment.

"Peanut?" I looked at my daughter, she was wearing a sweatshirt, and had her hair tied in a small messy knot. "Can you stomach breakfast?" I asked, lightly bouncing Sebastian.

"Sure." She smiled.

"Okay." I returned the smile, and left her room, I set Seb in his chair, then grabbed an orange and one of Sebs juice boxes. "Niñita!" I shouted, "come here!"

"Okay." I heard her weak voice come from her room, I heard movement, and then she appeared, dragging herself into the kitchen, she walked right over to me and hugged me. "Hi."

"Hi." I smiled at her, returning the hug.

"I'm sleepy." She sighed, resting her head on my chest. I smiled a little, and stroked her hair back.

"I know, but you can rest today." I handed her the orange and the juice box. "C'mon," I took her hand and walked her into the living room, and had her sit on the couch.

"Can I just nap?" She asked, curling up under a blanket.

"Of course, that means I get to watch West Wing though." I laughed a bit, and she smiled, nuzzling her head into a pillow. I got up and grabbed Seb, setting him next to her.

"Why hello there." She smiled at him, then pulled him under her blanket, next to him, "do you wanna take a nap?" She asked.

"No." he said softly, "trains!" He tried to yell, but failed, and drifted off to sleep, facing Abi. She eventually fell asleep as well. I watched the two of them for a little while, then pulled my phone out and took a picture of them, Sebs head buried between Abi's neck and shoulder, and Abi's arm slung around her brother, both of them sleeping under the blanket.

@Lin_Manuel - Both kids are sick today. The Miranda house should be under quarantine. But alas. I have a job.

I brought both of my children to the theater that night. I realized, I didn't want Abi to have to mother Sebastian, this way, they could sleep, and be supervised.

Seb was fast asleep, but Abi wasn't, I kept a hand on her back, walking her into the theater. Eventually I shuffled her into my dressing room.

"Do you need anything?" I asked, sitting down, after she sat down, "food, a movie," I gestured to the TV, "a book?" I suggested.

"I'm fine, I'm really fine, I can work, I don't need to be coddled and spoiled." She laughed a little.

"Well," I held a hand to her forehead, "you're definitely sick, so you're not fine, and you shouldn't work if you're sick, also, you need to be coddled right now, and you're not spoiled." I smiled at her.

"Yes I am," she protested, "you and Mom spoil me."

"We really don't Mijita." I laughed.

"You buy my clothes, I have a nice phone and I don't even have to pay for service, you don't make me do anything in the house, I don't have to make dinner, or clean, you don't make me pay for anything, not even music, which is like a dollar a song." She rambled.

"Shh," I pressed a finger to her lips, "a lot of parents buy their children clothes, I didn't get you your phone, you had that before we met, you're on our families data plan. It's just the three of us, it's not a big deal, I don't expect you to pay for service. You're a kid, you don't need to make dinner, V loves to cook, you clean your own room, and child, we share an ITunes account, I have like, a months worth of music, if you want a song, I most likely own it. You're not spoiled." I set my hands on her shoulders.

"But my birthday, and the Tonys." She whined.

"Okay, uh, that was your sweet sixteen,  I may have gone a little overboard, but it was your first birthday party, I had a lot to make up for, and darling, darling little girl. It was the Tonys. Anything less than what we got you for that, would have been skimping." I kissed her hair lightly. If I'm being honest, I'm sort of spoiling her, and I want to more than I have been, but, regardless of whether or not I'm spoiling her, she's not spoiled.

"Okay." She sighed, giving in.

"Rest, get better darling." I instructed and she moved to lay down, falling asleep quickly.
