"Look, I appreciate you wanting to help officer, but I need someone who knows what acceleration binders are and know what a simple wrench looks like." Scotty tried to keep his temper in check as he sent the third officer away. He wiped his face with his hands and looked down at Keenser.

"What? Don't look at me like that. The poor lad looked like he just finished with diapers." Scotty defended as he put his hands on his hips, looking out over the engine room of the Enterprise. Keenser made a humph sound and went to go climb on something, fully expecting Scotty to come yell at him later to get down.

You had been just assigned to the Enterprise and you could not wait to go see your favorite red shirt. Three years is too long to be apart from a dear friend such as Scotty. You thought you were going to start dating, but he got stationed on a remote planet and you lost all contact since then. You were extremely nervous and hoped that he remembers you even just a little bit.

You took care to take the right turns and the right turbo lifts to get to the engine room where a kind, little Russian kid had told you where you would find him. You were about to exit the turbo lift when it suddenly opened and the man of your search entered. You stood there frozen as you took in the small, little changes that have happened over the years. He is still as attractive as he was three years ago. You tried to hold back a laugh as you heard him mumble something about prepubescent twits being sent to him to just make him angry. Oh Scotty, you haven't changed much have you?

Scotty then called out for a deck that you assumed where the rooms are held. You let him keep doing what he was doing, absolutely loving that agitated face of his. You brought one of your hands to your mouth to disguise a laugh into a cough. Unfortunately, you were not as successful as you had hoped you would be. Scotty stopped mid-sentence and cleared his throat. Sparing you a mere glance, he looked straight ahead with his hands behind his back.

"Excuse me, lass. It's been a long day. As you can tell."

You nod, not wanting him to find out it was you just yet.

"And if you don't mind me saying, I think Kirk is purposefully doing this to me. I swear that man wants me to hate him!" Scotty throws hands up and shakes his head, glancing at you once more.

Again, you just nod, trying your hardest to keep a large smile off your face. But when you didn't react verbally, Scotty looked over at you. You stayed facing forward, hoping he won't recognize you, this was just too fun. Scotty does a double take and his eyes widen.

"Oi! I know you!" He reaches out to turn you to look at him, but the turbo lift doors opened and you stepped out.

You glance at him out of the corner of your eye as he follows you out, the both of you not really sure what floor you were on. "Honestly Scotty, I would hope you do." You smirk, still looking and walking straight ahead.

You hear an audible groan of frustration as you feel a pair of strong hands take you gently by your shoulders and turned you around swiftly. You came face to face with Scotty and that's when you let yourself crack a smile. Scotty's mouth hung slightly open and his eyes were wide, running along your features as if drinking you in.

"Hey there Monty." You kindly whisper as you look up and giving him a half smile.

You didn't get to say anything else as you suddenly found yourself wrapped in his arms and pressed against his chest.

"(Y/n)." He whispers into your hair.

Your arms wrapped around him as you gave him a squeeze. You smile as you bury your face in his neck, breathing in his engineering musk that you could live off of. After a few seconds of silence, Scotty let out a low breath and dropped his head onto your neck, taking his time breathing you in and remembering the feeling of you in his arms. You smelled like you always did, freshly bloomed flowers and clean clothes. Scotty truly didn't think he would ever see you again, let alone hold you. There were so many things left unsaid. Maybe now he may have a chance to say them.
