We all know that Angels Take Manhattan is approaching slowly, and we all know what that means for Amy and Rory. That's why, in honor of our beloved Ponds, every episode leading up to that one, I will be posting one of the old covers for Checkmate. I'll start from the very beginning, and lead up to revealing Checkmate's final cover on the first chapter of Angels Take Manhattan. I won't be changing the cover again after the Angels overrun New York, so the brand new cover posted on that episode will be the final. Now, here's what I haven't told you:

I'll be holding a contest for the last and final cover for Checkmate. I should point out, if I have less than three entries by The Power of Three, I'll probably call it off. The way to enter is to first tell me that you're going to enter, so I know. Then, in any of your books, place a picture of the cover you'd like to enter in the chapter. Like this:

(By the way, that's one of the covers I've made for Checkmate but it never made it to being official.)

Once you add the picture on a published chapter, let me know what book it's in, and what chapter. And then just like magic, you're entered! The only requirements are the title, my username, and the words "Blood is thicker than time," as seen above, which is Checkmate's overall quote. And of course, you'll get a shout out if you win.

Those of you who have been here from the very beginning will recognize cover for this episode. It's the very first. I send you a special greeting if you've stuck with me this whole time.

"You're okay with me keeping secrets from you, aren't you?" The Doctor asked as he worked on the console. I looked up from my Ramen noodles, and swallowed.

"Hell no," I answered.

"Then why are you still here?"

"This is my home," I answered. He looked at me, pleasantly surprised.

"Really?" He asked softly.

"Yeah," I nod. "Don't look at me so shocked, Raggedy Man. I've been here so long."

"That's the only reason this is home?" I got the feeling he didn't exactly mean to say that out loud.

"Well, you're. Er, you're, you know. You're mine." We both looked at our feet, simultaneously. "And anyway, the Ponds are here," I said quickly.

"Yeah. Of course," he replied quickly. As if on cue, the Ponds appeared, and I went back to eating.

I looked up from my Ramen noodles when the Tardis took off.

"Where are we going now?" Amy asked.

"I haven't even finished eating!" I objected.

"Oh, there's plenty of time for eating. You can eat any ol' day. Here we are!"
